Floren Named Golf World Player of the Week

LUBBOCK, Texas - After posting the first individual tournament win by Red Raider golfer since 2001 at last Mercedes Benz Collegiate Championship, junior Oscar Floren has been named as Golf World's Player of the Week.
With a final-hole birdie at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship, the Texas Tech junior hung on to beat UCLA's Erik Flores by one stroke. A one-over 217 at Sawgrass Country Club gave Floren his first college title and helped him build on a fall season in which he was named a Mid-Season All-American by Golf World.
This season, the Ljungskile, Sweden, native leads Tech with an average score of 71.13 per round after an eventful summer which saw him complete at the 2005 British Open. The year, Floren has finished in the top 10 of all five of Texas Tech's tournament this season giving him 12 for his three-year career in Lubbock.
