Postgame Notes
February 20, 2006 | Baseball
- Today's game marked the 29th all-time meeting between Texas Tech and Eastern New Mexico. The Red Raiders now own a 26-3 advantage in this series that began in 1962.
- Today's game was a game of firsts as Jason Seefeld logged his first innings on the mound (two no-hit innings of relief) and Chris Williams played catcher for the first time in his two-year career.
- The Tech pitching staff carried a no-hitter into the ninth inning today before having it broken up with two outs in the frame. The last time Tech carried a no-hitter into the ninth was against College of the Southwest on April 21, 1996. Jimmy Frush (1994-97) had a no-hitter disrupted when he gave up a hard hit single to the first batter in the ninth.
- Freshman first baseman James Leverton had a career-high four hits and five RBI and is now the third leading hitter on the team with a .367 average.
- Freshman left fielder Roger Kieschnick picked up his fifth multiple-RBI game of the season by knocking in four runs.
- Today's shutout marked the first by Tech since a 1-0 win over Texas A&M last year on March 19th. The shutout also dropped Tech's team ERA from 4.88 to 4.33.
- The Tech defense played its first error free contest of the year and the first since the game at Oklahoma on May 21, 2005.
