LUBBOCK, Texas - After posting a successful fall season and having a player selected as a Mid-season All-American, the Texas Tech men's golf team is slated to get back into the swing of things this weekend as the team begins its spring season at the Mercedes Benz Collegiate in Ponte Verda Beach, Fla. Play begins on Sunday and will conclude with the tournament's third and final round on Tuesday.
Against stiff competition, the Red Raiders posted three-consecutive top five finishes at William H. Tucker Invitational, Barnoa Collegiate Cup and the Carpet Capital Collegiate. The team posted a season-high third place finish at the William H. Tucker Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M., on Sept. 16-17.
Junior Oscar Floren capped off an impressive six month span which saw him compete in the 2005 British Open over the summer, but leading the Red Raiders with a 70.83 scoring average and finished in the top 10 of all four of Tech's fall tournament. Floren was selected as a Mid-season All-American by Golf World magazine.
In his final year of competition, senior Andrew Dresser also posted a strong fall, finishing third at the William H. Tucker Invitational and sixth at the Carpet Capital Collegiate.
