PONTE VERDRA BEACH, Fla. - Junior Oscar Floren fired a final round 73 to end with a three-round total of 217 and finish first individually at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship at Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Verda Beach, Fla. As a team, the Red Raiders ended the tournament in second place to post their highest team finish of the season.

The 2nd place finish is highest for the team since they finished first at the UTSA Invitational during the spring of 2003.

Floren, who was selected as a mid-season All-American by Golf World, earns the first individual tournament win by a Red Raider since Kyle Willmann posted two tournament wins during the 2001 season.

Senior Andrew Dresser nabbed his sixth career top-five finish of the season, finishing fifth overall with a three-round total of 76. Freshman Garret Merrell captured the first top-25 finish of his young career, ending the event in a tie for 25th with a tournament stroke total 230.

Freshmen Jake Younan-Wise and Brandon Lakatta rounded out the Tech contingency finishing with tournament totals of 232 and 246 respectively.

The Red Raiders are back in action on March 6-8 at the Hyatt Plantation Club Invitation in Dorado, Puerto Rico.
