RED RAIDERS LOOK TO REBOUND AGAINST CAMPBELL
Less than 48 hours after a game in Tempe, Arizona, the Red Raiders return to the friendly confines of Dan Law Field where they will open up a three-game series against the Campbell Camels. Texas Tech and Campbell will begin a three-game series at 3 p.m. on Thursday before playing game-two at 3 p.m. on Friday afternoon. The Red Raiders and Camels wrap up the series at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets for the series are on sale through the Texas Tech Athletics Ticket Office at (806) 742-TECH, online at www.texastech.com or at any area Select-A-Seat location.
The Red Raiders look to rebound from a 13-5 loss at No. 17 Arizona State on Tuesday night that ended a six-game win streak. Tech had pulled within three with a two-run fifth but surrendered six runs late in the game that led to the Red Raiders biggest loss this season (eight runs). Tech starter Miles Morgan gave up a season-high 11 runs in the game but only eight were earned due to two fielding errors. Freshman Roger Kieschnick and James Leverton each added multiple-hit games on the night while junior designated hitter Tyler Reves paced the offensive effort with two hits and three RBI. Reves picked up his fourth home run of the year when he gave Tech a 2-0 lead in the top of the first with a two-run dinger.
The three-game series against Campbell will actually be the second meeting between these two clubs and second in the last three years. The Red Raiders opened the 2004 campaign with a three-game sweep of the Camels in what was the first-ever meeting between the two. The Camels are 2-5 on the season after falling to Appalachian State on Tuesday night, 12-7.
Following the three-game series with Campbell, Texas Tech hits the road again for a two-game series beginning on Monday night at UNLV.
