- Today's game marked the 133rd all-time meeting between the Red Raiders and Aggies. Texas A&M leads the all-time series 83-50.
- Today's 5-4 loss marked Tech's first loss of the season when leading after the seventh inning. The Red Raiders were 15-0 entering today's game.
- Willie Rueda made his first start of the season in the leadoff role but it wasn't a successful debut as he struckout four times on the afternoon. The last Red Raider to strikeout four times in a single game was Gera Alvarez against BYU in the first game of a doubleheader on January 25, 2002. Rueda also had his seven-game hit streak snapped as he went 0-for-4 at the plate.
- Senior center fielder Brian Capps picked up his first home run of the season to give the Red Raiders a 4-2 lead in the top of the sixth. Capps' home run (two-run) was his first since the series finale at Baylor on May 1, 2005. Notably, all four of Capps' career home runs have come on the road.
- Head Coach Larry Hays experimented with the Tech batting order in today's series finale against Texas A&M. Hays moved nine-hole hitter Willie Rueda to the leadoff spot, Roger Kieschnick from the five-hole to the two-hole and that forced Brian Capps and Kyle Martin into the final two spots in the order.
- Junior left-hander Colt Hynes surrendered his first run of the season in the bottom of the seventh when he gave up a solo home run to Jess Buenger. The home run ended 22 1/3 shutout innings by Hynes since the start of the season. Notable, prior to Buenger's home run Hynes had retired 15 straight Texas A&M batters.
- Randy Gattis suffered a blown save and was the first by a Tech reliever this season. Gattis walked the first two batters in the bottom of the ninth inning.
