TECH HOSTS BAYLOR AT DAN LAW FIELD
The Texas Tech Red Raiders return to the friendly confines of Dan Law Field this weekend where they will play host to the Baylor Bears in a three-game Big 12 Conference series. The series gets underway at 6:30 p.m. on Friday and the opener will be televised locally on the Texas Tech Television Network (UPN Lubbock). All three games of the series can be heard live on the Texas Tech Sports Network with Mark Finkner and Jason Totman calling the action.
The Red Raiders are in search of a little home cooking following a disappointing series loss this past weekend at Olsen Field in College Station. The Red Raiders were on the verge of winning their first series at Texas A&M since 1973 but let a two-run lead evaporate in the bottom of the ninth inning. The Aggies plated three runs off Tech relievers Randy Gattis and Aaron Odom to send the Red Raiders to a 2-3 record in the Big 12.
Texas Tech won its 20th game of the season in a closely contested makeup game on Wednesday afternoon against Texas Wesleyan. For the second time in as many games, Tech let go of a lead in the ninth and had to rally for three runs in the bottom of the 12th inning to get past the Rams. Wednesday's win over Texas Wesleyan marked the 1,300th all-time win for the Texas Tech baseball program.
Just like Tech, the Baylor Bears enter the weekend series fresh off a disappointing Big 12 series loss. Baylor had an 8-0 lead in the sixth inning of Sunday's game at Oklahoma but the Sooners rallied for an 11-10 win that also gave them the series 2-1. The Bears won a pair of midweek games this week and come into Friday's game with an 18-8 overall record and 3-3 mark in the Big 12.
Tickets for the weekend series are available for purchase through the Texas Tech Athletics Ticket Office or at any area United Supermarkets/Select-A-Seat location.
