TECH HOSTS UNC-ASHEVILLE IN FINAL NON-CONFERENCE SERIES
Texas Tech returns home to Dan Law Field this weekend where the Red Raiders will open up a three-game series on Thursday evening against the UNC Asheville Bulldogs. The three-game series against UNC Asheville will signal the final non-conference weekend series of the year for the Red Raiders as they open up Big 12 play next week at home against defending national champion Texas. The series gets underway at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday and continues at 6:30 on Friday before wrapping up at 2 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. Thursday night's contest against the Bulldogs will be the first night game of the season for Tech at Dan Law Field.
The Red Raiders will be playing their third game in four days and sixth in the last nine when the series opens up on Thursday. Tech just returned home on Tuesday evening following a two-game midweek series against UNLV in Las Vegas. The Red Raiders took the first game 9-0 on Monday night but were unable to complete the sweep as the Rebels took a 16-11 decision in a time-shortened game (eight innings) on Tuesday. Texas Tech now stands at 12-6 overall and owns a 7-1 record at Dan Law Field.
UNC Asheville comes to Lubbock with an overall record of 5-9 after splitting a couple of midweek games this week against Dallas Baptist and Texas-Arlington. The Bulldogs are taking a tour of Texas this week as their university is closed for spring break. Thursday's game will mark the first-ever meeting between these two teams on the baseball diamond.
