- Today's game marked the 81st meeting between Texas Tech and New Mexico. The Red Raiders lead the all-time series 50-30-1 and have now won six straight against the Lobos.
- Freshman right fielder James Leverton punched out three doubles on the afternoon and is the second Tech player to accomplish that task this season (Brian Capps hit three doubles in the series finale against Baylor).
- Junior RHP Josh Tomlin earned the start today and turned in what was undoubtedly his best effort since suffering an injury earlier this season. Tomlin struckout a career-high six batters and allowed just one hit in 10 at-bats.
- Freshman center fielder Drew Evans got the staring nod in center today as Brian Capps is still nursing an injury suffered this weekend just prior to the series opener against Kansas. For the second straight game, Evans responded to the challenge and finished 2-for-5 with an RBI and now has four hits in his last two games.
- Freshman left fielder Roger Kieschnick added his 22nd multiple-hit game of the season while sophomore catcher Matt Smith added his sixth three-hit game of the year.
- Texas Tech has won three straight games at home and has a season record of 16-4 within the friendly confines of Dan Law Field.
- Junior LHP Aaron Odom earned his first win since the UNC-Asheville game on March 10.
