- Today's game marked the 82nd meeting between Texas Tech and New Mexico. The Red Raiders now lead the all-time series 51-30-1 and have won seven-straight against the Lobos. Tech also clinched the four-game season long series as Tech now leads 3-0 with one game remaining.
- The Texas Tech defense is starting to come along as the Red Raiders have now played errorless in three of the last four games.
- Freshman left fielder Roger Kieschnick hit his seventh home run of the season and has now hit safely in 39 of 45 games this season.
- Sophomore third baseman Jason Seefeld had two sacrifice bunts in today's game and that is the most since Scooter Jordan had two against Oklahoma State on March 17, 2002.
- Junior Tyler Reves played his first game of the season defensively as he caught all nine innings of today's game. Reves had made every start of the season prior to today as the designated hitter. He went 3-for-4 at the plate to earn his 21st multiple-hit game of the season and his second three-hit game of the year.
