RED RAIDERS WRAP UP HOME SCHEDULE WITH THREE-GAME SERIES AGAINST MISSOURI
Texas Tech will play its final three games of the season at Dan Law Field this weekend as the Red Raiders host the Missouri Tigers. The eighth-place Red Raiders and sixth-place Tigers open the three-game series on Friday evening with a 6:30 p.m. first pitch. The series continues at 2 p.m. on Saturday and will wrap up at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets for all three games are availalble for purchase through the Texas Tech Athletics Ticket Office or any area United Supermarkets/Select-A-Seat location.
Texas Tech snapped a three-game losing skid on Wednesday afternoon when the Red Raiders handed New Mexico a 15-4 loss at Isotopes Park in Albuquerque. The win over New Mexico gave Tech a 4-0 series sweep of the Lobos and the Red Raiders have now won eight-straight in the series dating back to 2004.
Tech stands at 28-20-1 overall and 6-13-1 in the Big 12 and maintained its eighth-place standing in the conference despite having the weekend off. Kansas State dropped its weekend series at Oklahoma (1-2) and remains behind Tech in ninth-place with a 5-15-1 record in league play. The top eight teams in the Big 12 regular-season will qualify for the Big 12 Championships at Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City (May 24-28).
Red Raider Baseball will have two special guests on hand this weekend as newly named Lady Raider Head Basketball Coach Kristy Curry will throw out the ceremonial first pitch on Friday evening. Head football coach Mike Leach will handle those same duties prior to the series finale on Sunday afternoon. Sunday will also be Senior Day and Texas Tech will recognize its seven seniors in a pre-game ceremony.
