Dresser Posts Third Place Finish at U.S. Open Qualifier

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech senior golfer Andrew Dresser fired a 69 at the Stonebridge Ranch Country Club on May 22, earning a third place finish at the U.S. Open Local Qualifying event and a spot in sectional play next month. During sectional play, Dresser will have the opportunity to make the field for the 2006 U.S. Open, which will be held at the Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, N.Y., June 15-18.
The Carrolton, Texas, native will participate in the 36-hole sectional qualifying round in Houston, Texas, on June 5 and is currently enjoyed the best season of his four-year Tech career. Dresser hopes to put an exclamation point on the year during the Red Raiders appearance at the 2006 NCAA Men's Golf Championship, which will be held at the Crosswater Golf Club in Sunriver, Ore., May 31-June 3.
Dresser, who is second on the team with a 72.03 scoring average, has received numerous accolades this season including being selected All-Big 12, as well as a finalist for the 2006 Byron Nelson Award, which is given annually to the nation's best senior golfer.
