Soccer Gets Win With Second-Straight Shut-Out

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's soccer team won its home-opening match on Sunday, shutting-out TCU by a score of 2-0 at R.P. Fuller Stadium.
The Red Raiders improve to 2-0 on the season with the victory, while the Horned Frogs drop to 0-2. Texas Tech gained an early lead after freshman defender Sarabeth Clopton posted a goal at the 1:53 mark with an assist by freshman forward Emmie Bennett. The Red Raider's second goal was an own goal at the 19th minute.
"It was an excellent all-around performance," said Tech head coach Neil McGuire. "The players played with discipline, integrity and togetherness. All of the preparations in preseason were worthwhile. It was a well deserved victory."
Texas Tech soccer will travel to West Lafayette, Ind., to face Purdue on Fri., Sept 1, at 4:30 p.m. CDT. Purdue is 1-1 on the season, going into its match against Cincinnati on Tuesday. On Sat., Sept. 2, at 6 p.m. CDT, the Red Raiders will play at Indiana. The Hoosiers are 0-1 and will play Baylor on Friday prior to hosting Tech.
