No. 21 Purdue and Indiana Await Red Raider Soccer

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech soccer team will take to the road for a pair of matches this weekend, by traveling to West Lafayette, Ind., to battle No. 21 Purdue and then to Bloomington, Ind., to face Indiana. Tech will face Purdue on Fri., Sept 1, at 4:30 p.m. CDT and Indiana on Sat., Sept. 2, at 7 p.m. CDT.
The Red Raiders enter the weekend 2-0 on the season, after two shut-out matches. Tech defeated Texas-San Antonio and TCU, 2-0, this past weekend. The last time the Red Raiders started 2-0 on a season was in 2002.
The Boilermakers are 1-1-1 on the season, after playing to a scoreless double overtime tie against Cincinnati on Tuesday night. The Hoosiers hold a record of 0-1 and will play Baylor on Friday prior to hosting Tech.
"This weekend we are faced with our stiffest test so far this season," said head coach Neil McGuire. "Both Purdue and Indiana are very good teams, and will no doubt be very well prepared. We are looking forward to the matches as it will allow us to see what we are capable of against major conference opponents."
Tech returns to Lubbock on Fri., Sept. 8, to host Prairie View A&M at 7 p.m. On Sun., Sept. 10, Tech faces Colorado College at 1 p.m. at R.P. Fuller Stadium. This next home weekend will kick-off the Red Raider revolution. The Texas Tech soccer team has adopted a new motto this season, "You'll Never Walk Alone." The first 1,000 fans will receive scarves that represent this new team motto. If you wear your official Texas Tech seal shirt that was given away at the first home match, you will receive free admission. Groups of 10 or more receive tickets into the match for $1 per ticket.
