Former Lady Raider Helps Team to WNBA Championship

LUBBOCK, Texas - Former Texas Tech standout Plenette Pierson won her first WNBA Championship as a member of the Detroit Shock as the Shock defeated the Sacramento Monarchs, 80-75, in game five of the WNBA Finals on Saturday in Detroit.
Pierson, who hails from Kingwood, Texas, scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds in the championship game.
For the WNBA Finals, Pierson averaged 6.8 points and 4.6 rebounds in 19.2 minutes of action. Her cumulative stats for the playoffs included averages of 8.8 points, 5.4 rebounds and 19.6 minutes of play.
