LUBBOCK, Texas - The Red Raider volleyball squad will be looking for their second conference win as Tech faces Missouri on Saturday, September 30, at 7 p.m. in the United Spirit Arena. The contest will mark the second-straight home match for Texas Tech, as the Red and Black faced Kansas on Wednesday. The 3-1 victory over the Jayhawks marked the first conference win of the season for the Tech squad.
The Red Raiders are currently 8-6 on the season, with a 1-4 Big 12 record. Missouri will travel to Lubbock, Texas, with a 10-4 record on the season. The Tigers are sitting in second place in the conference standings with a 4-1 record. Their single conference loss came at Colorado, which marked the final loss in a three-game losing streak for the Tigers.
Prior to the conference loss against the Buffs, Missouri came up short against No. 2 Penn State and then-No. 4 Santa Clara, losing 3-0 and 3-1 respectively. Missouri has currently won four-straight matches with victories over Texas A&M, Kansas State, then-No. 5 Texas and Baylor.
Tech will be looking for a similar all-around effort to that on Wednesday against the Jayhawks. Amy Charlebois and Philister Sang each tallied double-digit figures in kills, while Emily Ziegler and Holly Hicks did so in assists. Three Red Raiders recorded 10 or more digs against Kansas.
Next week, Tech will travel to College Station, Texas, to face Texas A&M on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Following a contest with the Aggies, Tech returns home for another two-match set.
