The Game
Texas Tech (12-7/3-2) plays at No. 7/6 Oklahoma (15-1/5-0) on Mon., Jan. 22, at 6 p.m. at the Lloyd Noble Center. It is the 34th meeting between the two schools.
On the Air
The game is being televised by Cox Communications and broadcast live throughout the state of Oklahoma with Bob Carpenter (play-by-play) and Kenny Mossman (color analyst) calling the game. The game can be heard on the radio on the Texas Tech Sports Network with play-by-play by Ryan Hyatt. The Lady Raiders
Texas Tech is 12-7 on the year and 3-2 in the Big 12 after winning a thrilling game at Oklahoma State, 63-61, last Saturday. On the year, senior Alesha Robertson leads the team in scoring at 13.2 points per game followed by junior Erin Myrick at 9.3 and freshman Jordan Murphree at 9.3. Robertson is the top rebounder, grabbing 9.1 boards per outing, while Myrick is averaging 8.0 rebounds per game. Senior Patrice Edwards is shooting a team-high 54.5 percent from the field. Senior Brooke Baughman is shooting 36.9 percent from three-point range and 77.5 percent from the free throw line. Murphree has team highs of 56 assists and 26 steals. Myrick is the top shot blocker with 39 blocks. Tech is shooting 41 percent from the field, 31.8 percent from the three-point arc and 68.1 percent from the charity stripe.
Scouting the Opponent
No. 7/6 Oklahoma owns a 15-1 overall record and is 5-0 in the Big 12 after beating Colorado, 82-67, last Saturday in Boulder. The Sooners' only loss of the season was a 74-67 defeat by Ohio State on Dec. 20. On the year, sophomore Courtney Paris paces the Sooners in scoring with a 23.1 average followed by senior Chelsi Welch at 10.8 and senior Leah Rush at 10.3. Paris is the top rebounder, averaging 15.5 boards per contest. Senior Britney Brown has team highs of 63 assists and 19 steals. Paris is the top shot blocker with 53 blocks. OU is shooting 49.7 percent from the field, 38.4 percent from three-point range and 61.6 percent from the free throw line.
The Coaches
Texas Tech head coach Kristy Curry is in her first year at the helm of the Lady Raider basketball program and enters the game with a 12-7 record. Curry is in her eighth year as a head coach with a career record of 191-58.
In her 11th season at Oklahoma, Sherri Coale has established a career record of 219-114.
Series Record
Texas Tech holds a 21-12 advantage over Oklahoma. The Sooners won both games last year, 63-57, Jan. 18, in Norman and 60-59, March 1, in Lubbock. The Lady Raiders won both games in 2005 - 70-64, Jan. 5, in Lubbock and 83-70, Feb. 23, in Norman. The Sooners were victorious both times in 2004, while the Lady Raiders won both contests in 2003. Tech is 9-7 against OU in Norman.
Last Year vs. Oklahoma
Jan. 18, 2006 (AP) - Freshman center Courtney Paris had her 10th straight double-double, finishing with 17 points and 19 rebounds as No. 17 Oklahoma beat Texas Tech 63-57. The Lady Raiders cut a 13-point second-half deficit to one midway through the period before Oklahoma pulled away again. Texas Tech simply had no answer for Paris, who had her 15th double-double of the season -- tops in NCAA Division I. She's scored in double figures in each of Oklahoma's 18 games. The Sooners opened the second half on a 7-2 run to take a 44-31 lead on a basket by Paris with 16:42 left. Texas Tech rallied and pulled within 49-48 on center LaToya Davis' three-point play with 10:12 left. The Sooners pushed their lead back to 10 points, at 58-48, with 6:34 left. Texas Tech came within five points three times after that, but no closer. The Lady Raiders didn't make a basket during the final four minutes. The Lady Raiders made just 14-of-25 free throws (56 percent) and shot 29.7 percent from the field. Alesha Robertson led Texas Tech with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Oklahoma, which had a 52-40 rebounding edge, used a 10-0 run to close the first half and take a 37-29 at the break.
March 1, 2006 (AP) - Courtney Paris got a triple double and set an NCAA freshman rebounding record as No. 9 Oklahoma held off Texas Tech 60-59. Paris, a candidate for national player of the year, scored 18 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and blocked 10 shots for the Sooners, who became the first team to go undefeated in the Big 12 since the league began in 1996. She got her record-breaking 444th rebound of the season late in the game. LaToya Davis scored 27 points and had 10 rebounds to lead the Lady Raiders. Down by 17 points early in the second half, Tech used runs of 16-4 and 7-0 to go up 57-56 on a layup by Davis with 2:32 remaining. But Oklahoma answered with two free throws by Paris and a bucket by Leah Rush with 1:36 to go that put the game out of reach. Britney Brown scored 12 points and Chelsi Welch added 11 for the Sooners. The Sooners jumped in front early, using a 12-0 run to lead 18-5 with about 14 minutes left in the half. But Tech didn't wilt. The Lady Raiders used a 7-3 run capped by a tough layup by Davis and an ensuing free throw to pull within 32-26 with just more than a minute remaining in the half. Welch finished the half with a 3-pointer to give the Sooners a 37-26 lead at halftime.
Last Time Out
Raquel Christian hit a 15-foot jumper with 1.1 seconds left in the game to give Texas Tech a 63-61 victory over Oklahoma State.
In a game that saw 17 lead changes, 12 in the second half alone, Texas Tech got its largest lead of seven points with 1:21 left in the first half. The Cowgirls were up by as many as five points with 16 minutes remaining in the game.
Christian and Patrice Edwards led the Lady Raiders with 14 point apiece, while Jordan Murphree and Alesha Robertson finished with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Robertson also added 11 rebounds for her ninth double-double of the season.
Andrea Riley led the Cowgirls with 15 points.
Tech went into the locker room at halftime with a 29-24 advantage.
OSU outrebounded Tech 36 to 34, while the Lady Raiders shot 48.6 percent from the field to Oklahoma State's 36.2 percent.
Lady Raider Coaches
When Kristy Curry was hired as head coach, she put together one of the top coaching staffs in the country. Joining Curry on the bench this season are associate head coach Bill Brock and assistant coaches Kelly Curry and Shereka Wright. Brock comes to Tech after spending the last six seasons at Baylor. Curry arrived on the South Plains after spending the past seven years at Purdue. Wright, who was an All-American for Curry at Purdue and plays in the WNBA, is in her first year in the coaching profession.
A Look Ahead
Texas Tech hosts Texas on Sat., Jan. 27, at 3 p.m. on FSNSW. The Lady Raiders then go on the road for two games - at Kansas Jan. 31, at 7 p.m. and at Colorado Feb. 3, at 8 p.m. CST. The Kansas game will be televised on CSTV on a taped delayed status and will air at 9 p.m. that night. Tech returns home to host Baylor on Wed., Feb. 7, at 7 p.m. on the Texas Tech Television Network, which airs locally in Lubbock on My Lubbock TV, Suddenlink Cable channel 6. The game will also air in Amarillo on KZBZ channel 6.
NCAA Stats
As of games through Jan. 14, Texas Tech ranks 26th in field goal percentage defense at 35.8 and 30th in blocked shots at 4.9, among all NCAA Division I teams. Junior Erin Myrick ranks 47th in blocked shots per game at 1.9, among all NCAA Division I players.
Closing in on 200
Head coach Kristy Curry is closing in on her 200th victory. Curry is just nine wins shy of the 200 mark with a career record of 191-58.
One for the Record Books
The game against No. 10/11 Arizona State was one for the record books, as for the first time in the history of NCAA women's basketball, a game was called due to rain. The Lady Raiders played the Sun Devils at Chase Field, home of the Arizona Diamondbacks, and the outdoor game was called with 4:18 remaining due to rain.
Double-Digit Boards
Senior Alesha Robertson has also collected double-figure boards on nine occasions this year, including a career-high 17 at Fresno State, while junior Erin Myrick has grabbed double-digit rebounds eight times this season, including tying her career high of 13 on three occasions.
Robertson Reaches 600 Rebounds
Senior Alesha Robertson reached the 600-rebound mark at SMU when she recorded nine boards. She currently has 652 rebounds in her career.
Three Straight Double-Doubles
Senior Alesha Robertson has had three straight double-doubles as she had 14 points and 14 rebounds against Texas A&M, 11 points and 10 rebounds against Missouri and 10 points and 11 rebounds at Oklahoma State. She has nine double-doubles on the year and 15 in her career.
Christian Hits Game Winner, No. 2 on ESPN Plays of the Day
Freshman Raquel Christian hit a 15-foot jumper with 1.1 seconds remaining in the game to give Texas Tech a 63-61 victory at Oklahoma State. The play was No. 2 on ESPN's Top 10 Plays of the Day on Jan. 20. Christian came off the bench to score a career-high 14 points in a career-high 30 minutes of play.
Edwards Perfect from Field for Career High Points
Senior Patrice Edwards was a perfect 6-for-6 from the field and chipped in two free throws to score a career-high 14 points at Oklahoma State. Her previous career high was 11 against Oklahoma State in Lubbock in 2006.
Dabbs Ties Season-High Points
Senior Chesley Dabbs tied her season-high 20 points against Mizzou. Dabbs started the game by making her first six shot attempts and finished the night by hitting 5-of-6 free throws in the final minute of the game. Dabbs also had 20 points against Oral Roberts back in December.
Blocking the Shot
Junior Erin Myrick tied her career high of four blocks against Missouri. It marked the first time this season she had swatted four blocks in a game.
Baughman Hits the Boards
Senior Brooke Baughman was just one rebound shy of double-digit boards as she grabbed a career-high nine rebounds versus Mizzou. Her previous career high was seven set against UCLA in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Four in Double Figures
Texas Tech had four players score in double figures against Missouri, marking the first time since the Oral Roberts game (Dec. 14) that four players have scored in double figures. Tech did it again the next game at Oklahoma State. Against the Tigers, senior Chesley Dabbs led the way with 20 points followed by senior Alesha Robertson with 11, senior Patrice Edwards with 10 and freshman Jordan Murphree with 10. At Oklahoma State, Edwards and freshman Raquel Christian both had 14 points, while Murphree and Robertson had 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Second-Largest Victory of Season
Texas Tech had its second-largest victory of the season with a 26-point win over Oklahoma State last weekend. The Lady Raiders' largest margin of victory this year is a 27-point win over Tulane.
Nailing the Three
The Lady Raiders nailed 9-of-17 three-pointers against the Cowgirls for a season-high 52.9 percent from the three-point arc. Senior Alesha Robertson led the way as she hit 4-of-5 three-point attempts.
Block Buster II
For the second time in three games, senior Patrice Edwards swatted a career high in blocks as she recorded five against OSU. She set a previous career high of four at SMU on Dec. 30.
Christian Adds Spark
Freshman Raquel Christian was a spark off the bench for the Lady Raiders against Oklahoma State. Christian scored a then career-high 13 points and sank a career-high three three-pointers in the victory.
Dabbs Dishes Out
Senior Chesley Dabbs dished out a career-high eight assists in the win over the Cowgirls. She broke her old career high of six, which was set against Texas in 2005.
Edwards Records First Career Double-Double
Senior Patrice Edwards recorded her first career double-double with a then season-high 10 points and 11 rebounds at Baylor. She also tallied a career-high three steals against the Lady Bears.
Edwards, Henderson Grab Career-High Boards
Senior Patrice Edwards grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds in the victory over Furman. It marked the first time she has had double-digit rebounds in her career at Tech. Her previous career high was eight against Houston earlier this season. Sophomore Tiny Henderson also had a career high in rebounds as she collected seven against the Lady Paladins. Henderson's previous career high was six against Stanford in early December.
Stealing the Ball
Sophomore Tiny Henderson tallied a career-high five steals against Furman. Her previous career high of four steals occurred in her first collegiate game against LSU in 2005. Henderson collected a then season-high of three steals at Hawaii in November. Freshman Raquel Christian also had a career high in steals with two against the Lady Paladins.
Steady Hands
Texas Tech committed just 10 turnovers in the game against Furman. The 10 turnovers was a season low for the Lady Raiders, breaking the old mark of 12 against Oral Roberts.
More than a Dabb
Senior Chesley Dabbs scored a season-high 20 points in Texas Tech's win over Oral Roberts. Sixteen of her 20 points came in the second half as she hit her last seven shots of the game, going 7-for-8 from the field in the second half.
Sixth Double-Double for Robertson
Senior Alesha Robertson had 10 points and 12 rebounds versus Oral Roberts for her sixth double-double of the season.
Henderson Matches Season Output
Sophomore Tiny Henderson tied her season-high 13 points against ORU as she was 6-of-9 from the field. Henderson also scored 13 points against Tulane.
Season High Field Goal Percentage
Texas Tech shot a season-high 56.9 percent from the field against ORU. Tech was 33-for-58 from the field. It marked the second time this season that the Lady Raiders have shot over 50 percent, the first coming against Tulane (52.7).
Season High For Robertson
Senior Alesha Robertson scored a season-high 20 points in Texas Tech's win over Texas-Arlington. Her previous season high was 18 against Denver in Hawaii. She also added nine rebounds in the victory.
Another Career High for Myrick
For the second time this season, junior Erin Myrick scored a new career high. Myrick poured in 21 points at Fresno State for a career high in points. Her previous career high was 20 points against Texas State earlier this season.
Season High from the Charity Stripe
The Lady Raiders shot a season-high 86.7 percent from the free throw line at Fresno State. Tech was 13-for-15 from the charity stripe against the Bulldogs.
All-Tournament Team
Senior Alesha Robertson was named to the Hawaiian Airlines Rainbow Wahine Classic All-Tournament team. Robertson averaged 15.7 points and 10.3 rebounds as the Lady Raiders went 2-1 in the tournament. Joining Robertson on the all-tournament team were: Erlana Larkins (North Carolina - MVP), Lindsey Pluimer (UCLA), Michelle Elliott (Gonzaga), Janevia Taylor (Hawaii), Camille Little (North Carolina), Donica Cosby (Arkansas) and Ivory Latta (North Carolina).
Robertson and Myrick Average Double-Doubles in Hawaii
Senior Alesha Robertson and junior Erin Myrick both averaged a double-double in the Hawaiian Airlines Rainbow Wahine Classic last weekend. Robertson averaged 15.7 points and 10.3 rebounds, while Myrick averaged 14 points and 12 rebounds in the three games.
Baughman Has Career-High Day
Senior Brooke Baughman poured in a career-high 17 points in the win at Houston. She also hit a career-high five three-pointers in the game. Her previous career highs were 16 points and four three-pointers against Texas last season in Lubbock.
Dabbs Gets Double Digits in First Game Back
Senior Chesley Dabbs poured in 15 points in the win over UTSA. It was her first game since March 27, 2005, against Tennessee in the NCAA Sweet 16 in Philadelphia. In the game against the Roadrunners, Dabbs also finished with six rebounds, three assists and one block in 34 minutes.
She's Back!
Senior Chesley Dabbs returns to the floor after missing the 2005-06 season after tearing her ACL and medial meniscus in her left knee during preseason workouts last year. Dabbs was an All-Big 12 second team selection in 2005 and averaged 12.2 points and 3.6 rebounds in 32 games, in which she started all of them.
Degrees in Hand
Seniors Chesley Dabbs and Patrice Edwards have already received their degrees. Edwards graduated last May with a degree in human development and family studies, while Dabbs graduated with a triple major of accounting, finance and general business last August.
Home Sweet Home
Texas Tech has won 106 of its 117 games it has played at the United Spirit Arena for a .906 winning percentage. Tech has produced five perfect seasons at home 1999-00 (16-0), 1998-99 (14-0), 1995-96 (16-0), 1992-93 (15-0) and 1991-92 (11-0).
Winning Percentage By Class
The senior class is 76-37 (.673) and 34-19 (.642) in the Big 12. Chesley Dabbs, who redshirted last year, posts a 90-29 (.756) record and 38-15 (.717) in the conference. The junior class is 51-29 (.638) and 24-13 (.649) in the league, while the sophomore class is 27-21 (.563) and 12-9 (.571). The freshmen are 12-7 (.632) and 3-2 (.600) in the Big 12.

Texas Tech will have 16 regular-season games televised this season. The Lady Raiders will play on ESPN2 once, FSN three times, FSN SW once, CSTV once, Cox Communications (Oklahoma) once and the Texas Tech Television Network nine times. FSN games include: Oklahoma State (W, 63-61), Oklahoma (Feb. 17), and at Texas (Feb. 24). Tech will play on FSN SW against Texas (Jan. 27) in Lubbock. Tech's game with Kansas State (Feb. 11) will be on ESPN2. The game at Kansas (Jan. 31) will be on CSTV on a taped delayed status. The Kristy Curry Radio Show
The Kristy Curry Radio Show is held each Monday from 6-7 p.m. throughout the rest of the season. The show will air on KFYO-AM 790 locally. The show will be held at Applebee's Neighborhood Grill and Bar located at 4th and Milwaukee.
Tech Signs Top 10 Recruiting Class
Kristy Curry's first recruiting class was ranked 10th in the country by All Star Girls Report. Curry signed three junior college players and one high school player to national letters of intent during the early signing period. The recruiting class consists of Alana Rumph, a 5-9 guard from Keller, Texas, who plays at South Plains College; Dominic Seals, a 6-2 post from Dallas, Texas, who also plays at South Plains College; Keisha Walker, a 5-8 guard from Kansas City, Mo., who plays at Fort Scott Community College; and Jordan Jones, a 5-9 guard from Suwanee, Ga., who attends Collins Hill High School.
