Last Year vs. Texas
Feb. 1, 2006 (AP) - LaToya Davis scored 23 points to lead five Texas Tech starters in double figures as the Lady Raiders defeated Texas 84-63. It was only the second time this season all five starters scored in double figures for Tech. The win was the most one-sided victory for Tech against Texas since February 2000 when the Lady Raiders won 73-44 in Lubbock. Davis and Erin Grant each had double-doubles for Tech. David had 11 rebounds to go with her 23 points and Grant had 10 points and 11 assists. Alesha Robertson had 21 points. Brooke Baughman added a career-high 16 points and Erin Myrick scored 12. Tech used second-half runs of 15-5 and 9-0 to pull away 66-43 with 9:40 left in the game. Tiffany Jackson had a double-double for Texas with 19 points and 12 rebounds and was the only Longhorn to score in double digits. The Longhorns shot 21-for-53 from the field (40 percent) while the Lady Raiders connected on 29-for-57 ( 51 percent). Tech also had 20 assists to Texas' nine. Early in the first half, the Lady Raiders took advantage of a four-minute scoring drought by the Longhorns to go on a 12-0 run and take a 12-2 lead with more than 15 minutes remaining in the half. Texas Tech then went more than five minutes without a field goal later in the first half, but Texas couldn't shave Tech's lead to less than five points. The Lady Raiders led 35-26 at the half.
Feb. 26, 2006 (AP) - Two days after her surprise announcement that she will resign from coaching at the end of her 24th season, Marsha Sharp guided her Texas Tech Lady Raiders to a 56-48 win over Texas. LaToya Davis scored 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds and Erin Myrick added 10 points and 10 boards for the Lady Raiders. Tiffany Jackson led Texas with 17 points. The Longhorns shot just 33 percent from the floor, hitting just one 3-pointer in one of their worst offensive games of the season. Texas cut a 10-point deficit to 39-36 early in the second when Erika Arriaran hit consecutive buckets before a 9-0 Tech run quickly rebuilt the lead. Brooke Baughman hit a 3-pointer from the right wing and Davis hit a tough shot in the lane over three defenders. Grant hit a short jumper on an assist from Davis, who then followed with a layup on a fast break to push the Lady Raiders' lead back to 48-36 with 12:49 to play. The Longhorns' last best push came when Jackson hit a jumper in the lane to make it 52-42. Alesha Robertson scored six in a row for Tech to quickly push the lead back up to 58-44 with four minutes left. Tech had a huge advantage from the free throw line, hitting 16 of 24. Texas was 5 of 8. Things got so bad for Texas that the Longhorns were hit with a technical foul for having six players on the court.
Last Time Out
(AP) - Texas Tech battled No. 6 Oklahoma into two extra frames Monday night but couldn't pull off the upset, falling 86-81.

It was Oklahoma's first double-overtime game since Dec. 21, 2000, when the Sooners beat San Diego. Texas Tech played its last two-overtime game on Feb. 23, 2000, a win over Texas.
Oklahoma struggled with turnovers for much of the game, finishing with 21, and never led by more than eight points.
The Sooners led by six with three minutes left in regulation, but Texas Tech rallied to go ahead 67-63 with 44.2 seconds left, and Oklahoma needed a 3-pointer by Erin Higgins with 7.6 seconds left to forge a 68-68 tie.
Texas Tech's Chesley Dabbs, who scored 13 points, missed a 10-footer at the buzzer.
The Lady Raiders fell behind by three points early in the first overtime but took a 75-73 lead on a 16-foot jumper by Dabbs with 1:16 left. Kendra Moore tied it seconds later on a drive at the other end.
After a Paris miss, Texas Tech had another chance to win, but she altered a jumper by Dabbs and the ball went out of bounds with eight-tenths of a second left. Paris stole the ensuing inbounds pass and her heave from 70 feet hit the rim and bounced away.
Murphree scored 17 points for Texas Tech and Raquel Christian added 14.
