Lady Raiders Drop Big 12 Opener

WACO, Texas (AP) -Angela Tisdale scored 21 points to lead No. 9 Baylor to a 61-54 win over Texas Tech on Wednesday night in the Big 12 opener for both teams.
The Lady Bears (14-1, 1-0 Big 12) extended their winning streak to 11 games.
Tisdale, who made four of her nine 3-pointers, stretched Baylor's second-half lead to 48-39 with her final 3-pointer with 9 1/2 minutes remaining.
Baylor forced Texas Tech (9-6, 0-1) into 23 turnovers, resulting in 19 points.
Brooke Baughman cut the Baylor lead to 59-54 with a 40-foot, 3-pointer with 32 seconds left to play, but Texas Tech didn't score again.
Chesley Dabbs paced the Lady Raiders with 12 points, while Alesha Robertson and Patrice Edwards scored 10 each.
Texas Tech jumped out to a 10-1 lead as Baylor missed its first 12 shots from the floor before Tisdale hit a 3-pointer with just over 13 minutes left in the first half to start an 11-0 run.
After Edwards tied the game at 12-12 with a layup, the Lady Bears put together a 12-4 run and went in front 24-16 with just under five minutes remaining.
Baylor led 30-25 at the half with Tisdale pacing the Lady Bear scoring with eight points, while Robertson led the Lady Raider offense with seven.
Prior to the game, Baylor retired the jersey number 31 that had been worn by Sheila Lambert. Lambert played for the Lady Bears two seasons from 2000 to 2002 after transferring from Grayson Community College and scored 1,315 career points.
