The Game
Texas Tech (9-6/0-1) hosts Oklahoma State (12-1/0-0) on Sat., Jan. 6, at 7 p.m. at the United Spirit Arena. It is the 36th meeting between the two schools. It is the first Big 12 Conference home game for the Lady Raiders and is the league opener for the Cowgirls.
On the Air
The game is being televised on the Texas Tech Television Network with Drew Dougherty (play-by-play) and Crystal Boles (color analyst) calling the game. The game can be seen in Lubbock on My Lubbock TV, Suddenlink Cable channel 6, and in Amarillo on KZBZ channel 6. The game can be heard on the radio on the Texas Tech Sports Network with play-by-play by Ryan Hyatt and Stephanie Gerber as the color analyst. Fans can also listen to the game on the internet at www.texastech.com through RaiderVision All-Access.
The Lady Raiders
Texas Tech is 9-6 on the year and 0-1 in the Big 12 after falling at No. 9/9 Baylor, 61-54, last Wednesday. On the year, senior Alesha Robertson leads the team in scoring at 13.1 points per game followed by junior Erin Myrick at 10.9. Myrick is the top rebounder, grabbing 8.7 boards per outing, while Robertson is averaging 8.6 rebounds per game. Senior Patrice Edwards is shooting a team-high 52.5 percent from the field and Myrick is shooting 50.8 percent. Baughman is shooting 40.7 percent from three-point range and 84.4 percent from the free throw line. Murphree leads the team in assists with 49 and sophomore Tiny Henderson has a team-high 24 steals. Myrick is the top shot blocker with 29 blocks. Tech is shooting 41 percent from the field, 30.5 percent from the three-point arc and 70.1 percent from the charity stripe.
Scouting the Opponent
Oklahoma State enters the game with a 12-1 record having won four-straight games. OSU's only loss was at Arkansas State, 80-73, Dec. 9. On the year, junior Maria Cordero paces the Cowgirls in scoring with a 15.2 average followed by senior Rashidat Sadiq at 14.0, junior Danielle Green at 11.4 and freshman Andrea Riley at 10.9. Cordero is also the top rebounder, averaging 7.5 boards per contest. Riley has team highs of 67 assists and 28 steals, while senior Christian Hood is the top shot blocker with 19 blocks. OSU is shooting 46.6 percent from the field, 29.5 percent from three-point range and 69.1 percent from the free throw line.
The Coaches
Texas Tech head coach Kristy Curry is in her first year at the helm of the Lady Raider basketball program and enters the game with a 9-6 record. Curry is in her eighth year as a head coach with a career record of 188-57.
In his second season at Oklahoma State, Kurt Budke has established a record of 18-23. He is also in his 14th year as a head coach with a career record of 371-70.
Series Record
Texas Tech is 23-12 against Oklahoma State, winning all three games last year: 61-51, in Stillwater Jan. 25; 48-35, in Lubbock Feb. 8; and 61-42, in the first round of the Big 12 Championship in Dallas on March 7. OSU's last victory was on Jan. 24, 2004, in an 88-87 overtime win in Stillwater. Tech is 11-4 against the Cowgirls in Lubbock.
Last Year vs. Oklahoma State
Jan. 25, 2006 (AP) - LaToya Davis scored a game-high 18 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to help lead Texas Tech to a 61-51 win over Oklahoma State. The Lady Raiders shot 50 percent from 3-point range and jumped to a 31-20 halftime lead. Erin Grant scored 15 points and Alesha Robertson added eight points and 13 rebounds for Texas Tech. Grant had seven assists to become the Big 12 Conference's all-time career leader for assists (770); surpassing the old mark of 764 set by Oklahoma's Stacey Dales (1998-2002). Shaunte' Smith scored 16 points to lead the Cowgirls (6-12, 0-7). Whitney Pegram came off the bench to add 11 points for Oklahoma State, which shot just 18 percent from 3-point range.
Feb. 8, 2006 (AP) - LaToya Davis had 12 points and 14 rebounds to lead Texas Tech past Oklahoma State 48-35 and hand the Cowgirls their 11th straight loss. The Lady Raiders shot 35 percent in the game and tied a season-low points, but still managed to get their eighth straight home win. In addition to their shooting woes, the Lady Raiders committed 16 turnovers, but the Cowgirls couldn't get any points off Tech's mishaps. OSU was held under 40 points for just the second time this season after shooting 28 percent from the field and going 7-of-16 from the free throw line. Catherria Turner scored 10 points for Oklahoma State and was the only Cowgirl player in double figures. Erin Grant had 10 points for Texas Tech. Brooke Baughman added a game-high eight assists. The Cowgirls didn't get their first field goal in the second half until the 13:53 mark, a drought of more than 11 minutes. But Oklahoma State finished the game on a 14-6 run as Tech had taken most of its starters off the court. Oklahoma State also scored only one field goal in the final 10 minutes of the first half, and Tech led 26-15 at the break after finishing the half on a 17-5 run. Tech's 48 points tied the season low set Sunday in a loss to Texas A&M. The Cowgirls haven't won since Dec. 29 against Prairie View A&M and haven't won in Lubbock since January 1997.
March 3, 2006 (AP) - LaToya Davis had 15 points and 10 rebounds and Patrice Edwards added 11 points off the bench as Texas Tech cruised to a 61-42 victory over Oklahoma State in the first round of the Big 12 Women's Basketball Championship. Alesha Robertson contributed 10 points and Darrice Griffin had 10 rebounds for Texas Tech. The fifth-seeded Lady Raiders play fourth-seeded Missouri in Wednesday's second round. Whitney Pegram's 12 points led the 6-22 Cowgirls, whose season ends with a 17-game losing streak. Oklahoma State, which has dropped 24 in a row to Big 12 schools, threatened to set a tournament record for fewest points - 39 by Iowa State in 1997. But Taylor Hardeman's 3-pointer with 30 seconds left gave the Cowgirls their final total. The Lady Raiders carried a 26-15 lead into halftime behind Davis' nine points. Oklahoma State, the 12th seed, was 5-for-26 from the field in the first half. Texas Tech put the game away with an 11-5 run midway through the second half that included three baskets from Edwards, extending the Lady Raiders' lead to 50-31. Lady Raiders center Erin Myrick had to be helped to the locker room with a knee injury early in the first half and did not return.
Last Time Out
(AP) - Angela Tisdale scored 21 points to lead No. 9 Baylor to a 61-54 win over Texas Tech on Wednesday night in the Big 12 opener for both teams.
Tisdale, who made four of her nine 3-pointers, stretched Baylor's second-half lead to 48-39 with her final 3-pointer with 9 1/2 minutes remaining.
Baylor forced Texas Tech into 23 turnovers, resulting in 19 points.
Brooke Baughman cut the Baylor lead to 59-54 with a 40-foot, 3-pointer with 32 seconds left to play, but Texas Tech didn't score again.
Chesley Dabbs paced the Lady Raiders with 12 points, while Alesha Robertson and Patrice Edwards scored 10 each.
Texas Tech jumped out to a 10-1 lead as Baylor missed its first 12 shots from the floor before Tisdale hit a 3-pointer with just over 13 minutes left in the first half to start an 11-0 run.
After Edwards tied the game at 12-12 with a layup, the Lady Bears put together a 12-4 run and went in front 24-16 with just under five minutes remaining.
Baylor led 30-25 at the half with Tisdale pacing the Lady Bear scoring with eight points, while Robertson led the Lady Raider offense with seven.
Lady Raider Coaches
When Kristy Curry was hired as head coach, she put together one of the top coaching staffs in the country. Joining Curry on the bench this season are associate head coach Bill Brock and assistant coaches Kelly Curry and Shereka Wright. Brock comes to Tech after spending the last six seasons at Baylor. Curry arrived on the South Plains after spending the past seven years at Purdue. Wright, who was an All-American for Curry at Purdue and plays in the WNBA, is in her first year in the coaching profession.
A Look Ahead
Texas Tech hosts Texas A&M on Wed., Jan. 10, at 7 p.m. The game will be televised on the Texas Tech Television Network (TTTN). Tech plays at Oklahoma Sun., Jan. 14, at 2 p.m. on FSN. The Lady Raiders return to the United Spirit Arena to play Missouri on Wed., Jan. 17, at 7 p.m. on the TTTN. Games on the Texas Tech Television Network air locally in Lubbock on My Lubbock TV, channel 6 on Suddenlink Cable. The games on Jan. 10 and Jan. 17 will also air in Amarillo on KZBZ Channel 6.
NCAA Stats
As of games through Dec. 31, Texas Tech ranks 34th in blocked shots at 4.9 and 44th in field goal percentage defense at 36.4, among all NCAA Division I teams.
Closing in on 200
Head coach Kristy Curry is closing in on her 200th victory. Curry is just 12 wins shy of the 200 mark with a career record of 188-57.
One for the Record Books
The game against No. 10/11 Arizona State was one for the record books, as for the first time in the history of NCAA women's basketball, a game was called due to rain. The Lady Raiders played the Sun Devils at Chase Field, home of the Arizona Diamondbacks, and the outdoor game was called with 4:18 remaining due to rain.
Double-Digit Boards
Junior Erin Myrick has grabbed double-digit rebounds seven times this season, including tying her career high of 13 on three occasions, while senior Alesha Robertson has collected double-figure boards on six occasions this year, including a career-high 17 at Fresno State.
Robertson Reaches 600 Rebounds
Senior Alesha Robertson reached the 600-rebound mark at SMU when she recorded nine boards. She currently has 609 rebounds in her career.
Edwards Records First Career Double-Double
Senior Patrice Edwards recorded her first career double-double with a season-high 10 points and 11 rebounds at Baylor. She also tallied a career-high three steals against the Lady Bears.
Career and Season Highs at SMU
Senior Patrice Edwards swatted a career-high four blocks at SMU, breaking her old career high of three blocks, set against Missouri last year in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Championship. Freshman Raquel Christian scored a career-high eight points in the loss against the Mustangs, while senior Chesley Dabbs had a career-high three three-pointers and a season-high seven rebounds.
Edwards, Henderson Grab Career-High Boards
Senior Patrice Edwards grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds in the victory over Furman. It marked the first time she has had double-digit rebounds in her career at Tech. Her previous career high was eight against Houston earlier this season. Sophomore Tiny Henderson also had a career high in rebounds as she collected seven against the Lady Paladins. Henderson's previous career high was six against Stanford in early December.
Stealing the Ball
Sophomore Tiny Henderson tallied a career-high five steals against Furman. Her previous career high of four steals occurred in her first collegiate game against LSU in 2005. Henderson collected a then season-high of three steals at Hawaii in November. Freshman Raquel Christian also had a career high in steals with two against the Lady Paladins.
Steady Hands
Texas Tech committed just 10 turnovers in the game against Furman. The 10 turnovers was a season low for the Lady Raiders, breaking the old mark of 12 against Oral Roberts.
More than a Dabb
Senior Chesley Dabbs scored a season-high 20 points in Texas Tech's win over Oral Roberts. Sixteen of her 20 points came in the second half as she hit her last seven shots of the game, going 7-for-8 from the field in the second half.
Sixth Double-Double for Robertson
Senior Alesha Robertson had 10 points and 12 rebounds versus Oral Roberts for her sixth double-double of the season. She currently has 12 double-doubles in her career.
Henderson Matches Season Output
Sophomore Tiny Henderson tied her season-high 13 points against ORU as she was 6-of-9 from the field. Henderson also scored 13 points against Tulane.
Block Buster
Junior Erin Myrick swatted three blocks against Oral Roberts and then again versus Furman, which tied her season high. Myrick leads the Lady Raiders in blocks this season with 25.
Flowers Dishes Career High
Junior Tawanna Flowers dished out a career-high three assists in the victory over Oral Roberts. Her previous career high was two assists at Ole Miss in 2005.
Season High Field Goal Percentage
Texas Tech shot a season-high 56.9 percent from the field against ORU. Tech was 33-for-58 from the field. It marked the second time this season that the Lady Raiders have shot over 50 percent, the first coming against Tulane (52.7).
Season High For Robertson
Senior Alesha Robertson scored a season-high 20 points in Texas Tech's win over Texas-Arlington. Her previous season high was 18 against Denver in Hawaii. She also added nine rebounds in the victory.
Myrick Ties Career-High Steals
Junior Erin Myrick tied her career high of three steals against UTA. She has had three steals on three occasions in her career. Myrick also tied her season high of three blocks against the Mavericks.
Doing Dishes
Senior Brooke Baughman tied her season-high five assists versus UTA and against Oral Roberts. She also had five assists against Tulane.
Another Career High for Myrick
For the second time this season, junior Erin Myrick scored a new career high. Myrick poured in 21 points at Fresno State for a career high in points. Her previous career high was 20 points against Texas State earlier this season.
Hittin' the Boards
Senior Alesha Robertson grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds at Fresno State breaking her old career high of 13 rebounds, which she had on three previous occasions. Robertson also added 17 points for her fifth double-double of the season.
Season High from the Charity Stripe
The Lady Raiders shot a season-high 86.7 percent from the free throw line at Fresno State. Tech was 13-for-15 from the charity stripe against the Bulldogs.
All-Tournament Team
Senior Alesha Robertson was named to the Hawaiian Airlines Rainbow Wahine Classic All-Tournament team. Robertson averaged 15.7 points and 10.3 rebounds as the Lady Raiders went 2-1 in the tournament. Joining Robertson on the all-tournament team were: Erlana Larkins (North Carolina - MVP), Lindsey Pluimer (UCLA), Michelle Elliott (Gonzaga), Janevia Taylor (Hawaii), Camille Little (North Carolina), Donica Cosby (Arkansas) and Ivory Latta (North Carolina).
Robertson and Myrick Average Double-Doubles in Hawaii
Senior Alesha Robertson and junior Erin Myrick both averaged a double-double in the Hawaiian Airlines Rainbow Wahine Classic last weekend. Robertson averaged 15.7 points and 10.3 rebounds, while Myrick averaged 14 points and 12 rebounds in the three games.
Baughman Hits the Boards
Senior Brooke Baughman grabbed a career-high seven rebounds in the win over UCLA. Her previous career high was six against Rice in 2004.
Steals and More Steals
Senior Alesha Robertson tallied a career-high five steals against Hawaii, while senior Brooke Baughman collected a career-high four steals against Denver.
Baughman Has Career-High Day
Senior Brooke Baughman poured in a career-high 17 points in the win at Houston. She also hit a career-high five three-pointers in the game. Her previous career highs were 16 points and four three-pointers against Texas last season in Lubbock.
Dabbs Gets Double Digits in First Game Back
Senior Chesley Dabbs poured in 15 points in the win over UTSA. It was her first game since March 27, 2005, against Tennessee in the NCAA Sweet 16 in Philadelphia. In the game against the Roadrunners, Dabbs also finished with six rebounds, three assists and one block in 34 minutes.
Baughman Makes Presence Known
Senior Brooke Baughman scored 15 points against UTSA, just one point shy of her then career-high 16 points (vs. Texas in 2006). At that time, the 15 points marked the second-highest output for Baughman in a game in her career. She then scored a new career-high 17 points at Houston.
Myrick Nears Career-High Boards
Junior Erin Myrick has been just one rebound shy of tying her career high of 14 rebounds three times this season. Myrick grabbed 13 boards versus Texas-San Antonio in the season opener, against Texas State and at Hawaii. Myrick's career high of 14 rebounds was established at Texas A&M last season.
She's Back!
Senior Chesley Dabbs returns to the floor after missing the 2005-06 season after tearing her ACL and medial meniscus in her left knee during preseason workouts last year. Dabbs was an All-Big 12 second team selection in 2005 and averaged 12.2 points and 3.6 rebounds in 32 games, in which she started all of them.
Degrees in Hand
Seniors Chesley Dabbs and Patrice Edwards have already received their degrees. Edwards graduated last May with a degree in human development and family studies, while Dabbs graduated with a triple major of accounting, finance and general business last August.
Home Sweet Home
Texas Tech has won 104 of its 114 games it has played at the United Spirit Arena for a .912 winning percentage. Tech has produced five perfect seasons at home 1999-00 (16-0), 1998-99 (14-0), 1995-96 (16-0), 1992-93 (15-0) and 1991-92 (11-0).
Winning Percentage By Class
The senior class is 73-36 (.670) and 31-18 (.633) in the Big 12. Chesley Dabbs, who redshirted last year, posts a 87-28 (.757) record and 35-14 (.714) in the conference. The junior class is 48-28 (.632) and 21-12 (.636) in the league, while the sophomore class is 24-20 (.545) and 9-8 (.529). The freshmen are 9-6 (.600) and 0-1 (.000) in the Big 12.

Texas Tech will have 16 regular-season games televised this season. The Lady Raiders will play on ESPN2 once, FSN four times, FSN SW once, CSTV once and the Texas Tech Television Network nine times. On FSN, Tech will play at Oklahoma (Jan. 14), at Oklahoma State (Jan. 20), Oklahoma (Feb. 17), and at Texas (Feb. 24). Tech will play on FSN SW against Texas (Jan. 27) in Lubbock. Tech's game with Kansas State (Feb. 11) will be on ESPN2. The game at Kansas (Jan. 31) will be on CSTV on a taped delayed status. The Lady Raiders will have games against Texas-San Antonio (W, 66-58), Tulane (W, 77-50), Oral Roberts (W, 79-67), Furman (W, 63-44), at Baylor (L, 54-61), Oklahoma State (Jan. 6), Texas A&M (Jan. 10), Missouri (Jan. 17) and Baylor (Feb. 7) on the Texas Tech Television Network.

Kristy Curry's weekly television show, Lady Raider Basketball with Kristy Curry, will be televised every Sunday. The show will air on FOX34 at 10 p.m. and My Lubbock TV at 10:30 p.m. throughout the rest of the season.
The Kristy Curry Radio Show
The Kristy Curry Radio Show will be held each Monday starting Jan. 8 from 6-7 p.m. The show will air on KFYO-AM 790 locally. The show will be held at Applebee's Neighborhood Grill and Bar located at 4th and Milwaukee.
Tech Signs Top 10 Recruiting Class
Kristy Curry's first recruiting class was ranked 10th in the country by All Star Girls Report. Curry signed three junior college players and one high school player to national letters of intent during the early signing period. The recruiting class consists of Alana Rumph, a 5-9 guard from Keller, Texas, who plays at South Plains College; Dominic Seals, a 6-2 post from Dallas, Texas, who also plays at South Plains College; Keisha Walker, a 5-8 guard from Kansas City, Mo., who plays at Fort Scott Community College; and Jordan Jones, a 5-9 guard from Suwanee, Ga., who attends Collins Hill High School.
