Harrell Receives Second AT&T Nomination

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech QB Graham Harrell received his second nomination for AT&T All-American of the Week this season for his performance in the Red Raiders' 42-17 win over Iowa State last weekend. Harrell completed 36-of-43 passes for a school-record 83.7 completion percentage. He also blistered the Cyclone defense for 425 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for another.
Harrell won the award two weeks ago after throwing for 646 yards and five touchdowns at Oklahoma State. Fans can determine the winner by text messaging VOTE to 87654 on their wireless phone.
Harrell leads the nation in virtually every passing category and is averaging 460.2 yards per game. He has thrown 24 touchdown passes and is responsible for 30.0 points per game. His 636 yards of total offense at Oklahoma State two weeks ago is second Tech annals, and the fourth-best single-game in NCAA history.
On the Texas Tech charts, Harrell ranks third on the career passing yardage list and has 7,248 for his career. He trails Robert Hall in second place by 236 yards. Harrell ranks seventh with 24 single-season scoring strikes and is in second place with 68 career touchdown passes.
On the year, Harrell has games of 419 yards (SMU), 484 (UTEP), 414 (Rice), 646 (Oklahoma State) and 338 (Northwestern State) to go along with Saturday's 425-yard performance. Harrell's 457.2 yards of total offense on the season leads the country.
The Red Raiders continue the 2007 season Saturday against traditional rival Texas A&M at Jones AT&T Stadium. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. and the game will be televised on ABC.
Fans have until 11:59 p.m. EST on Wednesday to submit their votes. The winner will be announced Oct. 11 during Thursday's ESPN College Football Primetime Presented by Applebee's college football game between Florida State and Wake Forest. There is no limit on fan voting, and each vote counts as one entry into a sweepstakes to win a trip to the 2008 BCS National Championship game in New Orleans, La. The AT&T All-America Player of the Week program will continue throughout the season, with the nominees being revealed each Sunday on ESPN SportsCenter at 9 a.m. ET and on the Web at www.espnallamerica.com. In December, four finalists for the AT&T All-America Player of the Year award will be announced during a one-hour special on ABC Sports when the Football Writers Association of America All-America team will also be announced. Fans will then get a chance to say who the best player in the nation is by voting for the AT&T All-America Player of the Year up until the Bowl Championship Series. Voting ends on Jan. 4 and the winner will be announced during the BCS National Championship game on FOX on Jan. 8.
