LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech inside receiver Grant Walker (Pflugerville, Texas) was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VI football team Thursday, announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Student-athletes with grade point averages above 3.2 qualify for the ballot, which is voted upon by sports information directors across the country. Walker is now eligible for Academic All-America voting, which will begin next week.
The senior business management major boasts a 3.51 grade point average and was selected to one of two receiver slots on the first team. Walker transferred to Texas Tech in 2005 from Purdue University, where he was an all-academic performer for the Boilermakers.
Walker, brother of teammate Todd Walker, has 25 receptions this season to go along with 282 yards and two touchdowns. The touchdowns are the first two of his career, while his yardage and reception totals have surpassed his numbers from a year ago.
