The Game
Texas Tech (14-8/5-3) hits the road for the second-straight game, playing at Colorado (9-11/3-5) on Sat., Feb. 3, at 8 p.m. CST at the Coors Events/Conference Center. It is the 17th meeting between the Lady Raiders and the Buffaloes.
On the Air
There is no television coverage of this game. The next television game for the Lady Raiders will be the Baylor game on Feb. 7, on the Texas Tech Television Network. The game can be heard on the radio on the Texas Tech Sports Network with play-by-play by Ryan Hyatt. The Lady Raiders
Texas Tech is 14-8 on the year and 5-3 in the Big 12 after winning its second-straight game by just one point in a 66-65 triumph at Kansas last Wednesday. On the year, senior Alesha Robertson leads the team in scoring at 13.6 points per game followed by freshman Jordan Murphree at 9.7 and junior Erin Myrick at 9.0. Robertson is the top rebounder, grabbing 8.9 boards per outing. Senior Patrice Edwards is shooting a team-high 55.8 percent from the field. Senior Brooke Baughman is shooting 35.1 percent from three-point range and Robertson is shooting 77.8 percent from the free throw line. Murphree has team highs of 67 assists and 32 steals. Myrick is the top shot blocker with 43 blocks. Tech is shooting 40.7 percent from the field, 31.7 percent from the three-point arc and 68.9 percent from the charity stripe.
Scouting the Opponent
Colorado owns a 9-11 overall record and is 3-5 in the Big 12 after beating Kansas State, 66-55, last Wednesday in Boulder to snap a five-game losing streak. On the year, junior Jackie McFarland paces the Buffaloes in scoring with an 18.8 average followed by senior Jasmina Ilic at 13.3. McFarland is the top rebounder, averaging 10.7 rebounds per contest. Freshman Whitney leads the team in assists with 48 and Ilic has a team-high 25 steals. McFarland is the top shot blocker with 17 blocks. Colorado is shooting 43.2 percent from the field, 33.2 percent from three-point range and 70.6 percent from the free throw line.
The Coaches
Texas Tech head coach Kristy Curry is in her first year at the helm of the Lady Raider basketball program and enters the game with a 14-8 record. Curry is in her eighth year as a head coach with a career record of 193-59.
In her second year at Colorado, Kathy McConnell-Miller has established a record of 18-32. She is also in her eighth year as a head coach with a career record of 109-120.
Series Record
Texas Tech and Colorado are meeting for the 17th time in the series that dates back to the 1980-81 season. The Lady Raiders hold a 13-3 advantage over the Buffaloes, including last year's 76-56 win over Colorado in Lubbock on Feb. 11. Tech has won the last four games against the Buffaloes and the last 10 of the last 11 contests. Colorado's last victory was a 74-69 overtime win in Lubbock on Feb. 3, 2002. The Lady Raiders are 5-1 against Colorado in Boulder.
Last Year vs. Colorado
Feb. 11, 2006 (AP) - LaToya Davis scored 22 points on 9-of-10 shooting and was one of four Lady Raiders in double figures as Texas Tech beat Colorado 76-56. Jackie McFarland had 22 for Colorado and was the only Buffalo in double digits. Erin Grant and Alesha Robertson each had 16 for Tech, which has won nine straight at home. Erin Myrick was one rebound shy of a double-double with nine rebounds and 12 points. The Lady Raiders were coming off back-to-back season-low point outputs, getting 48 in each of the last two games. But in this game, Tech exceeded its 65.6 points per game average. Tech led Colorado in rebounds, 35-25, and in shooting percentage, 50 percent to 39 percent. The Buffaloes used a 7-0 run midway through the second half to cut Tech's lead to 55-43, but wouldn't get any closer the rest of the game. Tech closed out the first half on a 16-2 run that was sparked by Darrice Griffin, who blocked two shots on defense and then scored on the ensuing fast break. Griffin also hit a buzzer-beater to push Tech's lead to 34-20 at halftime. Tech has won 10 of its last 11 against Colorado.
Last Time Out
(AP) - Alesha Robertson scored 20 points, including a free throw with 16 seconds left, to lead Texas Tech to a 66-65 win over Kansas on Wednesday night.
Shaquina Mosley, who nearly had a triple-double for Kansas with 18 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds, missed a shot at the buzzer that would have given the Jayhawks their first Big 12 Conference win. Jordan Murphree put the Lady Raiders up 65-63 with a pair of free throws with just over a minute to play, but Taylor McIntosh tied the game at 65-65 with 39 seconds left.
After Robertson hit the free throw to give Texas Tech the lead, the Jayhawks turned the ball over with 8 seconds remaining. The Lady Raiders (14-8, 5-3 Big 12) missed two free throws, giving Kansas a chance to pull out the win before Mosley's shot came up short. McIntosh had 16 points and Danielle McCray added 15 for the Jayhawks (6-15, 0-8).
Patrice Edwards had 11 points for Texas Tech before fouling out with 4:07 left in the game.
Lady Raider Coaches
When Kristy Curry was hired as head coach, she put together one of the top coaching staffs in the country. Joining Curry on the bench this season are associate head coach Bill Brock and assistant coaches Kelly Curry and Shereka Wright. Brock comes to Tech after spending the last six seasons at Baylor. Curry arrived on the South Plains after spending the past seven years at Purdue. Wright, who was an All-American for Curry at Purdue and plays in the WNBA, is in her first year in the coaching profession.
A Look Ahead
Texas Tech returns to the United Spirit Arena to host Baylor on Wed., Feb. 7, at 7 p.m. on the Texas Tech Television Network, which airs in Lubbock on My Lubbock TV, Suddenlink Cable channel 6, and in Amarillo on KZBZ channel 6. The Lady Raiders host Kansas State on Sun., Feb. 11, at 2 p.m. on ESPN2. Tech plays at Nebraska on Wed., Feb. 14, at 7 p.m., and then hosts Oklahoma on Sat., Feb. 17, at 1 p.m. on FSN. Tech's final three conference games include road games at Texas A&M on Wed., Feb. 21, at 7 p.m.; at Texas Sat., Feb. 24, at 3 p.m. on FSN; and the final home game against Iowa State on Thurs., March 1, at 7 p.m.
NCAA RPI
According to the NCAA's ratings percentage index (RPI), Texas Tech's RPI is 25th among all Division I schools as of games through Jan. 28.

As of games through Jan. 28, Texas Tech ranks 24th in field goal percentage defense at 35.9 and 27th in blocked shots at 5.0, among all NCAA Division I teams. Junior Erin Myrick ranks 39th in blocked shots per game at 2.0, among all NCAA Division I players.
Closing in on 200
Head coach Kristy Curry is closing in on her 200th victory. Curry is just seven wins shy of the 200 mark with a career record of 193-59.
One for the Record Books
The game against No. 10/11 Arizona State was one for the record books, as for the first time in the history of NCAA women's basketball, a game was called due to rain. The Lady Raiders played the Sun Devils at Chase Field, home of the Arizona Diamondbacks, and the outdoor game was called with 4:18 remaining due to rain.
Big 12 Has Big Weekend Crowds
Three Big 12 women's basketball games had over 10,000 fans in attendance on Sat., Jan. 27. This is the second time in the last three seasons the league has posted crowds of over 10,000 on the same day at three different sites. On Jan. 27, the Texas at Texas Tech game registered 12,365 fans while Texas A&M at Oklahoma had 11,486 in attendance and Kansas State and Iowa State played in front of 10,877 in Ames. This feat also happened on Feb. 26, 2005, as 13,535 patrons watched Oklahoma State play at Texas Tech, 11,473 were in attendance at the Texas A&M at Iowa State contest and 11,254 attended the Kansas at Kansas State game.
Double-Digit Boards
Senior Alesha Robertson has also collected double-figure boards on nine occasions this year, including a career-high 17 at Fresno State, while junior Erin Myrick has also grabbed double-digit rebounds nine times this season, including tying her career high of 13 on three occasions.
First Ever Back-to-Back Wins By One Point
For the first time in school history, Texas Tech won back-to-back games by just one point. Tech beat Texas, 49-48, on Jan. 27, in Lubbock and then defeated Kansas, 66-65, on Jan. 31, in Lawrence.
Just Seven Points from Seven-Game Winning Streak
Texas Tech is just seven points from being on a seven-game winning streak. Tech has won five of it last seven games and its two losses have been by a combined seven points - two to Texas A&M (49-47, Jan. 10) and five at Oklahoma (86-81, double-overtime Jan. 22).
Robertson Moves into Top 10
Senior Alesha Robertson has moved into the top 10 on Texas Tech's career scoring list. Robertson's 1,460 career points ranks her 10th among Tech's all-time scoring leaders.
Robertson Reaches 600 Rebounds
Senior Alesha Robertson reached the 600-rebound mark at SMU when she recorded nine boards. She currently has 675 rebounds in her career.
Robertson Scores 20, Clinches Tech Victory
Senior Alesha Robertson scored 20 points, including a free throw with 16 seconds left in the game to give Texas Tech a 66-65 win at Kansas. Robertson also grabbed nine rebounds in victory.
Myrick Records Fifth Double-Double
Junior Erin Myrick recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 16 points and 12 rebounds against Texas.
Tech Gets Win Despite Poor Shooting
Texas Tech shot a season-low 26.3 percent from the field against Texas, but pulled out a 49-48 victory. The Lady Raiders hit just 15 of 57 shot attempts.
Five in Double Figures
For the first time this season, the Lady Raiders had five players score in double figures in the double-overtime loss at Oklahoma. Senior Alesha Robertson led the way as she tied her season high of 20 points. Freshman Jordan Murphree tied her career high of 17 points, while freshman Raquel Christian tied her career high of 14 points. Seniors Chesley Dabbs and Patrice Edwards added 13 and 12 points, respectively. Edwards also grabbed 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the season and in her career.
Three Straight Double-Doubles
Senior Alesha Robertson has had three straight double-doubles as she had 14 points and 14 rebounds against Texas A&M, 11 points and 10 rebounds against Missouri and 10 points and 11 rebounds at Oklahoma State. She has nine double-doubles on the year and 15 in her career.
Christian Hits Game Winner, No. 2 on ESPN Plays of the Day
Freshman Raquel Christian hit a 15-foot jumper with 1.1 seconds remaining in the game to give Texas Tech a 63-61 victory at Oklahoma State. The play was No. 2 on ESPN's Top 10 Plays of the Day on Jan. 20. Christian came off the bench to score a career-high 14 points in a career-high 30 minutes of play.
Edwards Perfect from Field for Career High Points
Senior Patrice Edwards was a perfect 6-for-6 from the field and chipped in two free throws to score a career-high 14 points at Oklahoma State. Her previous career high was 11 against Oklahoma State in Lubbock in 2006.
Blocking the Shot
Junior Erin Myrick tied her career high of four blocks against Missouri. It marked the first time this season she had swatted four blocks in a game.
Baughman Hits the Boards
Senior Brooke Baughman was just one rebound shy of double-digit boards as she grabbed a career-high nine rebounds versus Mizzou. Her previous career high was seven set against UCLA in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Four in Double Figures
Texas Tech had four players score in double figures against Missouri, marking the first time since the Oral Roberts game (Dec. 14) that four players have scored in double figures. Tech did it again the next game at Oklahoma State. Against the Tigers, senior Chesley Dabbs led the way with 20 points followed by senior Alesha Robertson with 11, senior Patrice Edwards with 10 and freshman Jordan Murphree with 10. At Oklahoma State, Edwards and freshman Raquel Christian both had 14 points, while Murphree and Robertson had 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Second-Largest Victory of Season
Texas Tech had its second-largest victory of the season with a 26-point win over Oklahoma State last weekend. The Lady Raiders' largest margin of victory this year is a 27-point win over Tulane.
Nailing the Three
The Lady Raiders nailed 9-of-17 three-pointers against the Cowgirls for a season-high 52.9 percent from the three-point arc. Senior Alesha Robertson led the way as she hit 4-of-5 three-point attempts.
Block Buster II
For the second time in three games, senior Patrice Edwards swatted a career high in blocks as she recorded five against OSU. She set a previous career high of four at SMU on Dec. 30.
Christian Adds Spark
Freshman Raquel Christian was a spark off the bench for the Lady Raiders against Oklahoma State. Christian scored a then career-high 13 points and sank a career-high three three-pointers in the victory.
Edwards Records First Career Double-Double
Senior Patrice Edwards recorded her first career double-double with a then season-high 10 points and 11 rebounds at Baylor. She also tallied a career-high three steals against the Lady Bears.
Edwards, Henderson Grab Career-High Boards
Senior Patrice Edwards grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds in the victory over Furman. It marked the first time she has had double-digit rebounds in her career at Tech. Her previous career high was eight against Houston earlier this season. Sophomore Tiny Henderson also had a career high in rebounds as she collected seven against the Lady Paladins. Henderson's previous career high was six against Stanford in early December.
Stealing the Ball
Sophomore Tiny Henderson tallied a career-high five steals against Furman. Her previous career high of four steals occurred in her first collegiate game against LSU in 2005. Henderson collected a then season-high of three steals at Hawaii in November. Freshman Raquel Christian also had a career high in steals with two against the Lady Paladins.
Steady Hands
Texas Tech committed just 10 turnovers in the game against Furman. The 10 turnovers was a season low for the Lady Raiders, breaking the old mark of 12 against Oral Roberts.
Season High Field Goal Percentage
Texas Tech shot a season-high 56.9 percent from the field against ORU. Tech was 33-for-58 from the field. It marked the second time this season that the Lady Raiders have shot over 50 percent, the first coming against Tulane (52.7).
All-Tournament Team
Senior Alesha Robertson was named to the Hawaiian Airlines Rainbow Wahine Classic All-Tournament team. Robertson averaged 15.7 points and 10.3 rebounds as the Lady Raiders went 2-1 in the tournament. Joining Robertson on the all-tournament team were: Erlana Larkins (North Carolina - MVP), Lindsey Pluimer (UCLA), Michelle Elliott (Gonzaga), Janevia Taylor (Hawaii), Camille Little (North Carolina), Donica Cosby (Arkansas) and Ivory Latta (North Carolina).
Degree in Hand
Senior Patrice Edwards has already received her bachelor's degree. Edwards graduated last May with a degree in human development and family studies.
Home Sweet Home
Texas Tech has won 107 of its 118 games it has played at the United Spirit Arena for a .907 winning percentage. Tech has produced five perfect seasons at home 1999-00 (16-0), 1998-99 (14-0), 1995-96 (16-0), 1992-93 (15-0) and 1991-92 (11-0).
Winning Percentage By Class
The senior class is 78-38 (.672) and 36-20 (.643) in the Big 12. The junior class is 53-30 (.639) and 26-14 (.650) in the league, while the sophomore class is 29-22 (.569) and 14-10 (.583). The freshmen are 14-8 (.636) and 5-3 (.625) in the Big 12.

Texas Tech will have 16 regular-season games televised this season. The Lady Raiders will play on ESPN2 once, FSN three times, FSN SW once, CSTV once, Cox Communications (Oklahoma) once and the Texas Tech Television Network nine times. FSN games include: Oklahoma State (W, 63-61), Oklahoma (Feb. 17), and at Texas (Feb. 24). Tech played on FSN SW against Texas (W, 49-48) in Lubbock. Tech's game with Kansas State (Feb. 11) will be on ESPN2. The game at Kansas (W, 66-65) was on CSTV on a taped delayed status. Tech played at Oklahoma (L, 81-86 2OT) on Cox Communications shown throughout the state of Oklahoma. Kristy Curry's weekly television show, Lady Raider Basketball with Kristy Curry, will be televised every Sunday. The show will air on FOX34 at 10 p.m. and My Lubbock TV at 10:30 p.m. throughout the rest of the season.
The Kristy Curry Radio Show
The Kristy Curry Radio Show is held each Monday from 6-7 p.m. throughout the rest of the season. The show will air on KFYO-AM 790 locally. The show will be held at Applebee's Neighborhood Grill and Bar located at 4th and Milwaukee.
Tech Signs Top 10 Recruiting Class
Kristy Curry's first recruiting class was ranked 10th in the country by All Star Girls Report. Curry signed three junior college players and one high school player to national letters of intent during the early signing period. The recruiting class consists of Alana Rumph, a 5-9 guard from Keller, Texas, who plays at South Plains College; Dominic Seals, a 6-2 post from Dallas, Texas, who also plays at South Plains College; Keisha Walker, a 5-8 guard from Kansas City, Mo., who plays at Fort Scott Community College; and Jordan Jones, a 5-9 guard from Suwanee, Ga., who attends Collins Hill High School.
