Texas Tech Completes Lady Puerto Rico Classic

RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico - The Red Raider women's golf team wrapped up play at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic from the Coco Beach Resort in 15th place. Texas Tech finished the tournament hosted by Purdue after turning in rounds of 315-318-314--947, 83-over-par.

Leading all Red Raiders was sophomore Ulrika Van Niekerk as she finished in a tie for 45th with a 54-hole score of 232 (+16). The South Africa native turned in rounds of 76-78-78--232. Gloriana Soto was six shots back from van Niekerk and finished in a tie for 59th. Soto, a Tech sophomore, carded scores of 77-83-78--238. Teammates Rosalyn Kim and Melissa Fahey tied for 70th place with a three-round score of 241. One shot behind her teammates was Megan Dowdy who carded rounds of 82-79-81--242 to tie for 74th place.

The women from Auburn took the team title, finishing with scores of 292-284-297--873, 9-over-par. There was a five-way tie for first place among the individuals, as each carded a 54-hole score of 1-over-par 217.

The Texas Tech women will next travel to Rio Verde, Ariz., for the Rio Verde Invitational. The Red Raiders finished fourth in the tournament a year ago behind the efforts of then-redshirt freshman Megan Dowdy, who finished with her first career top-20 finish.
