Tech Set To Host `07 Red Raider Classic
The Texas Tech Red Raiders will look to try and shake a two-game losing skid on Friday afternoon with the start of the 2007 Red Raider Classic. The Red Raiders will play a total of four games over the long weekend as Tech will face Northwestern at 3 p.m. on Friday and then again at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Tech will then take on Western Illinois at 2 p.m. on Sunday before concluding the round robin tournament with a 1 p.m. game against the Leathernecks at 1 p.m. on Monday. Northwestern and Western Illinois will face off at 11 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
The Red Raiders need to get back in the win column starting on Friday after Tech dropped a 15-13 decision to New Mexico on Tuesday night. Tech scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth to take its first lead only to have its bullpen surrender eight runs over the next three innings to the hot hitting Lobos. The Tech offense got a much needed boost in the game as the Red Raiders collected 13 runs on 14 hits, including four home runs.
On the mound, the Red Raiders will start AJ Ramos in Friday afternoon's game and will most likely throw Colt Hynes against the Wildcats on Saturday. The pitching rotation for Sunday and Monday's game has yet to be determined.
Tickets for this weekend's Red Raider Classic are currently on sale through the Texas Tech Athletics Ticket Office at (806) 742-TECH or can be purchased online at www.texastech.com. For the Saturday and Sunday doubleheaders, one game ticket will be good for both games each day.
