LUBBOCK, Texas - Twenty-two high school players signed National Letters of Intent on Wednesday to play football at Texas Tech this fall, according to head coach Mike Leach at his annual signing day press conference.
The 22 players are joined by three junior college transfers - Daniel Howard, DE, 6-3, 240, Wichita, Kan. (Butler County CC); De'Shon Sanders, DB, 6-2, 205, Hobbs, N.M. (CC of San Francisco); Brandon Sharpe, DE, 6-4, 240, Lyons, Ga. (Fresno City CC) - and a prep school transfer - Justin Keown, OL, 6-4, 285, Anderson, S.C. (Hargrave Military Academy) - who enrolled along with Sanders in January.
Additionally, 2006 class members and gray shirts Lyle Leong (Abilene, Texas/Abilene) and Adam James (Celina, Texas) enrolled full-time in January and will become part of the 2007 class.
"This a great recruiting class and we are very happy with the people we are bringing in," Leach said. "We took very few high-risk guys and met a lot of specific needs. Our group of offensive linemen is the best we've recruiting at Texas Tech."
