LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech women's basketball player junior Erin Myrick was named to the CoSIDA ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VI second team. Myrick was one of nine student-athletes, six first team and three second team, to be honored.
In order to be nominated for Academic All-District and All-America honors, a player must be a starter or important reserve, must have a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average and must have completed at least one full academic year at her institution. Voting is done by members of CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).
Myrick, a native of Duarte, Calif., is majoring in broadcast journalism with minors in English and Spanish and currently has a cumulative grade-point average of 3.67. She will graduate with her bachelor's degree in May.
Myrick was a 2006 Academic All-Big 12 first team selection, and has been named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll five times. She has also been on the Texas Tech President's List and the Dean's List. Myrick is a two-time recipient of the Texas Tech Student-Athlete Academic Excellence Award.
This is the second-straight year Texas Tech has had a student-athlete receive Academic All-District honors as Erin Grant was a first team selection last year.
