- Texas Tech is now 1-3 to start the season for the first time since 1994.
- Northwestern now leads the all-time series 2-1 and today's game marked the first meeting between the two schools since Feb. 22, 1998.
- Of Texas Tech's 25 runs this season, 17 of those have been scored in or after the seventh inning. All seven of Tech's runs scored today came in the seventh and eighth innings.
- Junior catcher Matt Smith launched his second home run of the season in the eighth inning. The home run was his only hit of the afternoon.
- Freshman center fielder Taylor Ashby led all Tech hitters on the afternoon as he went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
