- Freshman third baseman Chris Hall extended his current hit streak to nine games when he led off the ball game with a single down the right field line. He finished the evening 3-for-4 to lead the Tech offense.
- Texas Tech struckout 13 times in tonight's game to set a new season-high. The previous high was nine strikeouts against Northern Illinois (2/25) and UNLV (3/6).
- Texas Tech has now lost 11-straight games to the Rice Owls. Tech's last win over Rice was back on April 6, 1996.
