- Senior left-hander Colt Hynes, who turned in his best outing of the season, set a new career high with 11strikeouts. The complete game effort was the second of his career (last vs. Missouri May 14, 2006) and was the second of the season by a Tech pitcher (last was Aaron Odom in
- Freshman third baseman Chris Hall extended his hit streak to 10 games and is now the third Red Raider to tally a double-digit hit streak this season ( Roger Kieschnick - 12; Geoff Byrns - 11).
- Texas Tech is guaranteed no less than a second place finish in this round robin Whataburger College Classic. A Rice win against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi later this afternoon would give the Owls the title but a loss would give Tech and Rice the co-championship.
- Texas Tech played error free today for the first time since the Northern Illinois game on Feb. 25.
