Red Raiders Face NMSU On Tuesday
The Texas Tech Red Raiders will take a short break away from Big 12 Conference play as they welcome the New Mexico State Aggies on Tuesday evening. Tuesday night's game is set for 6:30 p.m. and will be carried live across the South Plains on the Texas Tech Sports Network (KKAM 1340). Red Raider fans can also take advantage of another Two-For-Tuesday as you can buy two game tickets for the price of one.
The Red Raiders (18-10; 3-3) enter Tuesday night's game against New Mexico State on the heels of stinging loss to Baylor on Sunday. Baylor crushed Tech 14-4 to win the three-game series (2-1) and in the process became the first team to run-rule Tech since Texas A&M did so back in 2000. The Bears broke open a 1-0 game in the bottom of the fourth with a 12-run inning and it marked the highest amount of runs given up by Tech in an inning since the 2004 season. Tech's only win of the weekend came in extra innings on Saturday night when James Leverton scored on a bases-loaded balk in the top of the 10th.
Texas Tech now stands at 3-3 in the Big 12 Conference after two weeks of play and will face Kansas State this weekend in Manhattan. The Wildcats are 1-2 in Big 12 play after suffering a setback to Texas in Austin in their league opener.
New Mexico State comes into Tuesday's game with a 13-15 overall record and a 3-3 mark in the Western Athletic Conference. The Aggies won a three-game series over the weekend at San Jose State.
The game against New Mexico State is the first of two contests between the Red Raiders and the Aggies. Tech and NMSU will play for the final time this year in Roswell, N.M. on May 15.
