LUBBOCK, Texas-Still searching for their first Big 12 win, the Texas Tech women's tennis team will host a triple header this weekend beginning Thurs., March 29 at 2 p.m. against in-state rival No. 40 Texas, then Missouri on Sat., at noon, and rounding it out against Kansas on Sun., April 1, at 10 a.m.
Last time out Tech split singles with Nebraska 3-3. Due to poor weather conditions and time constraints, the two will finish the match playing for the doubles point in Kansas City, Mo. before Big 12 Championships. The Red Raiders currently sit 7-6 overall, 0-3 in Big 12 heading into the weekend.
The Lady Horns of Texas come to Lubbock with a 5-6 record, 3-0 in conference after beating Iowa State, Kansas, and Nebraska. Tech has yet to defeat Texas in program history, with the Horns owning 32 consecutive victories.
Coming off a 6-1 victory over Army, Missouri will arrive looking to overcome last season's 5-2 loss to the Lady Raiders. The Tigers enter the match with a 6-8 record overall and 1-5 in the Big 12.
Boasting one of the top five doubles duos in the Big 12, Kansas presents a difficult task for the Lady Raiders. Sitting as 4-9 overall and 2-2 in conference, Kansas hopes for a different result than last year's close 4-3 loss.
All matches will be held at the McLeod Tennis Center located south of UMC Hospital on Indiana Ave. FREE PIZZA sponsored by Dominos along with prizes donated by the Tennis Outlet will be available for fans at the Texas and Kansas matches, with a BBQ by Jimmy Peterson and crew at the Missouri match.
