Men's Golf Completes Two Rounds in California

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. - The Texas Tech men's golf team sits in 13th place after 36-holes of play at the USC Collegiate Invitational on Monday. The Red Raiders finished the day with rounds of 299-296--595 to sit five shots back from a tie for ninth place in the 15-team field.
Freshman Will Griffin leads all Red Raiders and is the only Tech member to sit in the top 20. The San Antonio native is tied for 17th after carding scores of 72-73--145. Senior Oscar Floren has been steady on the course with two rounds of 74 to tie for 39th. One shot behind Floren is sophomore Garrett Merrell who improved three shots in the second round, carding 76-73--149. Merrell sits in a tie for 45th.
Santiago Rivas, taking part in his first spring tournament, has rounds of 79-76--155 and is currently tied for 68th place. Australia native Jake Younan-Wise is in 74th position after rounds of 77-80--157.
Host and No. 5th-ranked USC leads all squads after two rounds with scores of 291-277--568 (E). No. 1 Stanford is one shot back with 569, one-over-par. Atop the individual leaderboard is Loyola Marymount's Brian Locke and USC's Jamie Lovemark as each has carded a 6-under 136.
Play will complete on Tuesday with the final 18 holes from the North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village, Calif.
