- Texas Tech made its first ever appearance in the city of Corpus Christi today as the Red Raiders played Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the first game of the 2007 Whataburger College Classic. Tech' 9-2 win over the Islanders gives the Red Raiders an all-time record of 6-0 against the Islanders.
- Freshman second baseman Joey Kenworthy picked up his first career multiple-hit and multiple-RBI game today as he finished 2-for-4 with two RBI.
- Freshman designated hitter Taylor Ashby picked up his fifth multiple-RBI game of the season (tied for second on the team).
- Freshman third baseman Chris Hall extended his season-long hit streak to eight games.
- Junior transfer Geoff Byrns logged his team-leading 11th multiple-hit game of the year as he finished the afternoon 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
- AJ Ramos' eight strikeouts gives the sophomore right-hander a total of 41 on the season. The 41 strikeouts is the best among all Big 12 pitchers.
- Texas Tech is now 5-0 on the road and 4-0 in tournament play.
