Floren Leads Red Raiders After Two Rounds

TUCSON, Ariz. - After the completion of the first two rounds from the Omni Tucson National Golf Club, senior Oscar Floren leads all Red Raiders with a 14th-place effort at the National Invitational Tournament. The native of Sweden fired rounds of 70-73--143 to finish 1-under after 36 holes.
The Tech team is tied for 11th with scores of 291-295--586 (+10) in the field of 15, which includes 13 teams ranked among the top 50 programs in the country. No. 24 Tulsa has stormed ahead of the pack after carding rounds of 281-283--564 (-12) and is two shots ahead of No. 21 Arizona State.
Tech freshman Will Griffin finished 1-over-par on the day with rounds of 72-73--145. The San Antonio, Texas, native is currently one shot from the top 20 in a tie for 24th. Three-over after two rounds is sophomore Garrett Merrell who is tied for 42nd with scores of 74-73--147. Santiago Rivas turned in 75-76--151 on Monday and is tied for 66th. Freshman Matt Smith, competing in his third tournament for Tech, is tied for 74th after shooting rounds of 76-79--155 to finish 11-over.
