LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech women's basketball student-athlete junior Darrice Griffin has been chosen to participate in the annual NCAA National Leadership Conference May 27-31, at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
The annual NCAA National Leadership Conference provides NCAA student-athletes with a forum to openly discuss issues that may affect them on their campuses and in their communities, while also providing them with the opportunity to enhance their leadership, communication, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
The NCAA National Leadership Conference also promotes better communication among student-athletes, coaches, administrators, faculty and communities. The five-day leadership conference consists of daily exercises and activities to help the student-athletes develop as individuals and as contributing members to a group. This conference takes place annually in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., and is provided at no cost to institutions participating in the NCAA CHAMPS/Life Skills Program.
To be selected a student-athlete must have demonstrated a strong desire or the ability to be a leader. The selection committee reviews athletic, academic and community service achievements. A personal statement discussing leadership is also taken into consideration. Only 325 student-athletes are selected for the Leadership Conference from all of the NCAA member institutions.
