LUBBOCK, Texas - The Big 12 Conference announced earlier today that Texas Tech's Big 12 opener at Oklahoma State is set for a regional television appearance on FSN with kickoff set for 2:30 p.m. CT in Stillwater, Okla.
The Sept. 22 game featuring the Red Raiders and Cowboys will be the first Big 12 game of the year as the remainder of the conference will commence league play the following week. The appearance on FSN will mark Tech's second televised game of the year as the Red Raiders open the 2007 season in front of a national audience on ESPN at SMU on Labor Day (Sept. 3) at 3 p.m.
The Red Raiders are coming off a 7-5 season including a championship in the 2006 Insight Bowl. Tech defeated the Minnesota Golden Gophers in a thrilling come-from-behind 44-41 overtime win for its fourth bowl championship in the last five years.
To date, 12 of the 16 Big 12 road non-conference games will be carried by ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, FSN or CSTV. The remaining road games are subject to the local telecast package of the home team. The league will have a minimum of 15 games each on three of the leaders in the national distribution of college football television - ABC, FSN and ESPN/ESPN2. With games also on VERSUS and CSTV, Big 12 football will be televised by five different national carriers in 2007.
