LUBBOCK, Texas - Aaron Gordon, director of coaching for FC Dallas, and his wife Ashley Gordon, head coach of Richland Community College, have been named assistant coaches for Texas Tech Soccer, which was announced today by head coach Tom Stone.
Dallas native, Aaron, graduated from Lake Highlands high school in 1988. Aaron played soccer at Hardin Simmons, Richland Junior College and the University of South Carolina Spartanburg.
Aaron was Stone's assistant coach for Atlanta Beat. After coaching the Atlanta Beat for three years, he was the director of coaching for FC Dallas. FC Dallas is the youth club team for the major league soccer team. Aaron was the director of Dallas Inter that eventually turned into FC Dallas.
He remained director of coaching for FC Dallas for three years, while leading FC Dallas to the regional quarterfinals and regional finals. FC Dallas was the state cup finalist under the reins of Aaron.
Ashley comes to Tech after serving as head coach for Richland Community College. She is a 2004 graduate of SMU. Before playing collegiate soccer, Ashley was in the U-19 National Pool. She played soccer for SMU from 1990-1993. Ashley helped lead the Mustangs to the NCAA Tournament three years.
Ashley worked with husband, Aaron, coaching 90 girls for FC Dallas. She also was a FC Academy coach.
Ashley helped lead Richland Community College to a National Championship in the fall of 2006. She was named Coach of the Tournament. Ashley received the NSCAA Coach of the Year in 2006 for junior colleges.
The Gordons have two daughters, Addison, 7, and Avery, 3.
Aaron and Ashley join Stone for his first season at Tech.
