Lubbock, Texas - Due to inclement weather across the South Plains, the soccer match between Texas Tech and Stephen F. Austin was cancelled after 45 minutes of play. It is unlikely the two squads will be able to reschedule the match for this season.
The match was originally scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m., but because of lightning around R.P. Fuller Stadium, the start time was moved back to 9 p.m.
Because the match did not go the required 70 minutes, the match is not considered official. Stephen F. Austin was winning, 2-0, when storms forced the cancellation. Tech remains 1-2 on the season.
The Red Raiders return to the field Sun., Sept. 9, to face the University of Texas-San Antonio at 1 p.m. All fans with a ticket stub from Saturday's UTEP football game will get in free.
