GETTING STARTED
- Texas Tech won the opening coin toss and elected to receive. Tech is now 4-2 on the year in the opening toss.
- Today's game was televised nationally on FSN and marked Tech's third television appearance of the season and the second of the year on FSN. Tech will face rival Texas A&M before another FSN national audience next Saturday morning at Kyle Field at 11 a.m.
- Junior defensive tackle Richard Jones made his first career start of the season in replacement of Ra'Jon Henley who did not dress for today's game.
- Today's game against Nebraska marked the 79th Homecoming game in school history.
- The 2008 Homecoming King was Dailey Fuller of Beta Theta Phi Fraternity while Jenna Jones of Pi Beta Phi Sorority was named Homecoming Queen.
- Today's game marked Tech's third consecutive sellout of the season as 53,449 were in attendance at Jones AT&T Stadium. After four home games this season, Texas Tech is averaging 52,477 fans per-game.

- Gives Texas Tech a 6-0 record to start the 2008 season.

CRABTREE BECOMES TECH'S CAREER RECEIVING TOUCHDOWNS LEADER
Sophomore wide receiver and Heisman Trophy candidate Michael Crabtree became the school's all-time leader in receiving touchdowns when he caught a 35-yard TD pass from Graham Harrell in the first quarter that gave Tech a 6-0 lead. Crabtree surpassed Jarrett Hicks who had 30 career touchdowns between 2003-2006.
- Caught his second touchdown pass of the afternoon with 4:47 remaining in the third quarter to give the Red Raiders a 23-10 lead. The second TD catch gave him his third multiple-TD game of the season and the 10th of his career.
- With two touchdown receptions today, Michael Crabtree moved among the top 30 in NCAA career scoring receptions.
- Finished the afternoon with 89 yards on five receptions and two touchdowns.
HARRELL NOW THE MOST PROLFIC COLLEGE PASSER IN STATE OF TEXAS HISTORY
With 284 yards passing, senior quarterback Graham Harrell (Heisman Trophy candidate) moved into fifth place on the NCAA's career passing yards list and surpassing Houston's Kevin Kolb. Prior to today's game, Kolb was the most prolific passer (FBS) in state of Texas history but now that title belongs to Harrell who now has 12,993 career passing yards.
WOODS MOVES UP ON CAREER LISTS
Senior running back Shannon Woods moved into a tie for seventh place on the school's career rushing touchdown list with a four-yard TD rush late in the first half. He now has 29 rushing touchdowns in his career and that ties him with Billy Taylor (1974-77), Byron Hanspard (1994-96) and Zebbie Letheridge (1994-97).
- Now has 34 career rushing and receiving touchdowns and ranks sixth on the Tech all-time touchdowns list. He trails Byron Morris (1990-93) in fifth place by three scores.
BIG DAY FOR BATCH
Sophomore running back Barron Batch had a huge day for the Red Raider offense as the turned in 150 all-purpose yards, including 97 on the ground and 53 through the air.
- Hauled in a career-long 27 yard pass on Tech's second possession of the game. His previous long was a 26-yarder earlier in the season against UMASS.
- Later on in the second quarter, he set a new career best with a 49-yard rush to set up a 26-yard field goal by Donnie Carona (gave Tech a 10-7 lead). The 49-yard rush marked the fifth longest rush in the Mike Leach era.
NOTING THE RED RAIDERS
- Junior defensive end McKinner Dixon put an end to Nebraska's first offensive possession when he registered a sack on a key 3rd and 3 situation. The sack was his sixth of the season and went down for a loss of two yards.
- Junior receiver Ed Britton gave the Red Raiders a big boost late in the second quarter when he hauled in a career-long 56-yard reception from Graham Harrell. Britton's reception helped setup a four-yard touchdown run by Shannon Woods that gave the Red Raiders a 16-7 lead with 1:18 remaining in the first half.
- The overtime game was the first for Texas Tech since a 38-35 win over UTEP in El Paso in 2006. Texas Tech is now 3-2 in overtime games under Mike Leach. Texas Tech's last overtime game at home resulted in a 51-48 loss to No. 16 North Carolina State.
- Texas Tech outrushed Nebraska 137 to 114 but the Huskers won the passing battle 257 to 284.
- Despite only 48 total offensive plays (compared to 80 by Nebraska), the Texas Tech offense averaged 8.7 yards-per-play while putting 37 points on the scoreboard to secure the win.
- SS Daniel Charbonnet led the Tech defensive effort with a career-high nine tackles. His previous career best was eight this past week against Kansas State.
