LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech Athletics Department officials announced Thursday that Saturday's game against Nebraska is a sold out, marking the fourth sellout of the year. The athletics department also is asking fans not to purchase tickets from other outlets as 42 tickets were purchased last week with a stolen credit card and could be sold on the street or around the stadium on game day.
Four Texas Tech games are sellouts this year, including earlier games with SMU and Massachusetts. In addition to this weekend's game against Nebraska, the Texas game Nov. 1 also is sold out.
"This is a testament to our fans that truly bleed Red and Black and their unwavering support of Texas Tech Football," Texas Tech Director of Athletics Gerald Myers said. "Coach (Mike) Leach and his staff and players continue to provide the country's most exciting brand of football on Saturdays and our fans continue to respond week-in and week-out."
Earlier last week the Texas Tech Athletics Ticket Office discovered 42 tickets for Saturday's game were purchased with a stolen credit as were tickets for Oklahoma State's game against Texas A&M last weekend. It was suspected most of the OSU tickets were resold around the stadium on game day.
"We want our fans to be careful when purchasing tickets from someone they may not know or on eBay or other online outlets," said Dave Welsh, Associate AD/Ticket Operations. "If anyone suspects an individual of selling bogus tickets or has a question about a ticket they may have purchased, please let us know."
The Texas Tech Athletics Ticket Office is located at the north end of Jones AT&T Stadium off of 4th Street. Office hours are 8:30 a.m-5 p.m. and the contact numbers are (888) GO-BIG-12 and (806) 742-TECH. Tickets still remain for Texas Tech's games against Oklahoma State (Nov. 8) and Baylor (Nov. 29).
