LUBBOCK, Texas - Junior outfielder Roger Kieschnick added to his preseason list of accolades today as Baseball America named him a Second-Team Preseason All-American.
Kieschnick, a native of Rockwall, Texas, is one of six Big 12 players to make one of the three Baseball America Preseason All-America teams and is the lone league player on the second team. Texas' Jordan Danks and Kyle Russell were both named to the first team along with Missouri's Aaron Crow. Blake Stouffer of Texas A&M and Jordy Mercer of Oklahoma State were named to the third team.
Kieschnick led the Big 12 last season with 25 doubles and is four away from moving into the top five on the school's career list. In his two-year career, he has played in 113 games and posted a .330 average along with 39 doubles, seven triples, 22 home runs and 91 RBIs.
Earlier this year he was named to the Brooks Wallace Award Watch List. The award honors the nation's most outstanding player.
Kieschnick and his fellow teammates get the season underway on Friday, Feb. 22 as the Red Raiders play host to the Northern Illinois Huskies in a four-game series at Dan Law Field.
