LUBBOCK, Texas - Fresh off one of the most successful seasons in school history, the Texas Tech Soccer team will begin preparation for the 2008 season, as the program announced its spring schedule today.
The Red Raiders will begin the spring in big fashion, facing Central Florida Feb. 23 in Austin. The Knights advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament last year. From there, Tech will square off with West Texas A&M March 8 in Canyon, before traveling to Frisco, Texas, to face TCU April 5 at Pizza Hut Park. The spring concludes a week later as the Red Raiders will face Arizona State and UTEP April 12 and 13 in El Paso, Texas.
"We feel playing quality teams such as Central Florida, UTEP, Arizona State and TCU will help us prepare for the rigorous Big 12 schedule," assistant coach Aaron Gordon said. "We realize every match this spring will be a battle, but each should help us better prepare for the 2008 season."
Tech will begin the spring with 17 players, not including redshirt freshman Taylor Lytle who is still recovering from a knee injury. The Red Raiders began spring practices last week.
