ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Leah Legler singled twice to extend her hit streak to five games, but it was not enough for Texas Tech softball to overcome Wichita State (8-5) in a 8-0 loss Saturday night.
Legler went 2-4 to lead the way once again for Tech (0-11). Jennifer Corkin and Devin Zaragoza both went 1-3, while Ashly Jacobs (0-5) picked up the loss for Tech.
The Red Raiders had chances to put runs across in several innings, but the Shockers' pitching combination of Brianna Smet and Ashley Bright shut the door every time.
It was a stalemate pitcher's duel through the first three innings as neither squad could muster much offense. Wichita State finally broke through with a pair of unearned runs in the fourth inning. The Shockers would go on to add two more in the fifth before putting across three in the sixth and one in the seventh.
Tech will play its final game of the Lobo Invitational tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. MT when it takes on the host New Mexico Lobos. Fans can follow the action at www.texastech.com.
