- Junior right fielder Roger Kieschnick moved past Bobby Kohler (1979-82) into sole possession of fifth place on the school's career doubles list. He now has 42 in his three-year career as a Red Raider.
- Texas Tech has now dropped four-straight games in the Houston College Classic (4-9 all-time record) and two in a row to the Houston Cougars. The Cougars now lead the all-time series 42-37.
- Joey Kenworthy's two RBIs in the game tied his career high and marked just the second time in his career that he posted a multiple-RBI game. His last two-RBI effort was at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on March 9, 2007.
- Sophomore Taylor Ashby is the only Red Raider to have hit safely in all six games of the season. He went 1-for-4 on the afternoon. Jason Seefeld (5), Roger Kieschnick (5), Joey Kenworthy (4), Chris Hall (4) and Willie Rueda (3) all extended hit streaks.
