Myrick, Murphree Named Second Team Academic All-District

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech women's basketball student-athletes senior Erin Myrick and sophomore Jordan Murphree were named to the CoSIDA ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VI second team. The Lady Raiders were two of 11 student-athletes, five first team and six second team, to be honored.
In order to be nominated for Academic All-District and All-America honors, a player must be a starter or important reserve, must have a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average and must have completed at least one full academic year at her institution. Voting is done by members of CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).
Myrick, a native of Duarte, Calif., graduated cum laude last May with a degree in broadcast journalism with minors in English and Spanish and currently is working on a second degree in public relations. She has a 3.60 GPA. This is Myrick's second time to be named second team Academic All-District as she received the honor last year as well.
Murphree, who hails from Brock, Texas, is a first-time honoree who has a 3.50 GPA and is majoring in exercise and sport science.
This is the third-straight year Texas Tech has had a student-athlete receive Academic All-District honors (Myrick second team 2006, Erin Grant first team 2005).
