Texas Tech now leads the all-time series against New Mexico State 38-13.
Senior first baseman Jason Seefeld added his seventh home run of the season in the bottom of the second inning. He has now hit three of Tech's last four home runs and his seven homers is a career high surpassing the five that he hit last season.
Junior right-hander Russ Fornea tallied a career-high six strikeouts on the evening. He logged four innings of work in what was his sixth start of the season.
Roger Kieschnick, Willie Rueda and Jason Seefeld are all three riding seven-game hit streaks.
