LUBBOCK, Texas - Leanne Mihelich has joined the Texas Tech soccer program, as announced by Red Raider head coach Tom Stone today. Mihelich, a native of Duncanville, Texas, arrives in Lubbock after one season at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock, where she led the Trojans in goals, points, shot attempts and shots-on-goal in 2007.
Mihelich connected on nine goals, while providing four assists for a total of 22 points last season as she paced UALR to a school record 11 wins and its first-ever berth into the Sun Belt Conference Tournament semifinals.
During high school, Mihelich played for FC Dallas, the former club team of Red Raider assistant coaches Aaron and Ashley Gordon. She also participated in Texas ODP and led her high school squad in scoring all four years.
"Leanne has already proven she can score at the collegiate level and her speed and overall athleticism will be a great asset for our offense," Stone said. "In addition, Leanne is the type of person and student we hope to continue to attract as we continue to build the women's soccer program here at Texas Tech. We feel very fortunate to have Leanne joining our squad for the 2008 season."
Mihelich is expected to play forward for the Red Raiders and is eligible to be in the starting lineup when Tech kicks off the 2008 season Aug. 22, against Lamar.
