LUBBOCK, Texas - With summer in full swing, we will catch up with some of Lady Raider basketball student-athletes throughout the summer to check in on how they are doing. Our first Lady Raider is junior guard Maddy Brown, who is currently at home in Honeoye Falls, N.Y.
Catching Up With ... Maddy Brown
What have you been doing since school ended in May?
Since school ended I got to come home to New York and spend time with my family. I am currently home because I had to get my tonsils taken out (no fun!)
Do you have any big vacation plans or taking a trip anywhere?
Since I have been home, we took a short family trip to Pittsburgh to see my grandparents and extended family. My next big trip is back to Lubbock on July 7th. I am also going to Cleveland in August to see an Indians game with my Dad.
How have your summer workouts been going?
I haven't been doing workouts with the team because I am home right now but I have been doing a lot on my own now that I am recovered fully from my tonsil surgery. It is nice to be able to work out and play basketball again but I'm looking forward to going back to work out with the team.
Have you been concentrating on any one particular thing during your workouts?
The main thing I have been focusing on is getting back into shape by running and shooting as many jump shots as I can a day.
Is there is anything exciting that has happened to you recently that you'd like to share?
Nothing too exciting just enjoying the time I've had at home (although it wasn't for the most exciting reason) and really looking forward to coming back to Lubbock in a few weeks and see everyone.
What are you most looking forward to this season?
I can't wait for the season to start...I'm really looking forward to staying injury free and contributing to the team in any way I can. I am also excited to begin playing with my new teammates and start practices so we can win a lot of games this year.
What are some of your goals for this season?
This season I am going to focus on taking my shots when I have them and playing hard on both ends of the floor. I am really excited to start practices and games; I know we are going to have a really good team.
Is there anything you would like to say to your fans?
Thanks for all the support and I hope you are all having a great summer!! I can't wait to be back in Lubbock...and for the season to start. See you at the games!
