Tech Soccer Hosts First Exhibition Match

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech soccer team begins its 2008 campaign Thursday night with its first preseason exhibition match against West Texas A&M beginning at 7 p.m. at the John Walker Soccer Complex.
The Red Raiders return nine starters and 15 lettermen off last season's squad that finished 7-8-2 overall and 5-4-1 in the Big 12. Entering head coach Tom Stone's second season in Lubbock, Tech will have 28 players on its roster with the addition of 13 newcomers.
West Texas A&M is coming off a 13-7-1 season last year, winning the Lone Star Conference title. The Lady Buffs are predicted to finish third in the Lone Star Conference this season.
All Red Raider soccer matches will be held at the John Walker Soccer Complex this season, located off Texas Tech Parkway, west of University Medical Center. Tech closes its pre-season schedule on Saturday against North Texas at 10 a.m. All fans will be admitted free for both exhibition matches. The Red Raiders open the regular season Fri., Aug. 22, at home against Lamar.
